BMW adds gorgeous special edition 7-series

The color scheme makes that interior pretty fugly. I know it HAS to look better in real life.

Learning from Audi I see....

Remember when Audi decided to launch the Exclusive Interior Package on the A8 which had a creme interior similar to the one seen here on the 7-series with black piping.

The A8's interior still looks better although the creme interior 7-series is a work of art!

The piano black wood trim looks great as does the creme colored interior. However, that brown/orange color looks absolutely AWFUL!

BMW is FOLLOWING Audi by creating an exclusive interior package. The A8 ALREADY had an exclusive interior package that could be ordered.

Very nice Special Edition 7-Series. I can't wait for the Alpina B7, the B7 will truly be a Special 7.

BMW first introduced a two-tone interior in their 750iL's back in 1995 ... It was part of an upgrade for the v-12 and came with a rich Nappa Leather, piping on the seats with 2 special exterior colors and 2 unique dashes ... BMW not Audi introduced the special interior trim ... Audi fans get off the high horse ... I agree mith Mromar

I agree with GermanNut that the brown/orange color...whatever you would call it...is really really really ugly. I also must add that the urine yellow of the speedometer and tach is also ugly. The creme interior is quite attractive though and I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Finally, who cares if BMW or Audi is following the other, the cars look great of their own merit and that is all I care about.

the cream interior looks really good, imroves the interior ambience to no-end

I don't like the leather inserts on the steering wheel, especially the copper colored one. It looks tacky.

The orange/black leather combo makes me wanna hurl...now the the new Mercedes S has been out, it makes the 7's interior look very dated.

They still have that silly i-Drive knob. That leather interior looks terrible. I hate that steering wheel. What the heck is that about?? Maybe they should add one of those famous dash mounted cup holders, like in their 3 series. Then the interior would be complete. That's awful looking!!!

IMO, the interior looks kinda tacky with those color differences. The leather looks really high quality though. Is this an upgrade over the regular 7-series?

Really lovely looks alot more ambient and luxury a big step up for BMW which hints that the next 7er might have a luxurious interior worthy of AUDI standards (hopefully). The creme colour is beautiful and ambient and looks seriously luxury and although no one above really likes the copper colour i dont actually mind it and think sitting in that car with that colour would be quite awesome. It adds a real sport orientated theme and looks alot more classy then just plain black. All in all good work team BMW keep it going and you should give the 5 series a special edition aswell cause im not huge on its interior its alittle stark.

Audi has been following BMW by churning out A4/A6/A8 to be more driver oriented for years. Audi spokes peoples wont make if's and but's about how "We want this to reflect driver's oriented character" and "Like bmw" or "Better then BMW".

Hey Romar, ask BMW if they have been following Audi in terms of interior design and ergonomics???

I think so... Watch the next iteration of i-Drive function very similarly to MMI and watch BMW try to perfect its stark look of the 5-series and make it look more like the A6.

I'm getting a 335i in the exclusive creme beige interior with the grey trim and dark grey exterior.

I have an Audi right now but I'm willing to move a step down in terms of interior execution in order to move a step up in handling/driving dynamics.

It's great to be able to have a car with the best interior in class as well as a car with best driving dynamics and handling in class.

There is nothing else that you need other than cars that are absolutely amazing to drive and equally amazing to be in.

That is the combination all auto manufacturers strive for. Perfectly executed driving dynamics, speed, handling, braking, accleration with flawless interior craftsmanship and great reliability.

I'm fortunate enough to sample both of these respective strengths which are both the best in class.

Notice how I will have owned and driven both an Audi and BMW by just after this time next year.

I have already driven many Audis, BMW and MBs.

I praise Audi the way I do because it is high time they get respect for their cars. I like BMW just as much and I don't think any one company is better than the other.

Audi makes BMW better in terms of interior design and BMW makes Audi better in terms of performance and driving dyanmics. Audi is the benchmark for interiors and BMW is the benchmark for driving dynamics.

the cluttered mess of dials
the cheep shifter on the side of the wheel
the 23 buttons out of place to adjust the seat
the i drive overcomplecated idrive controls and menus
the very cheep plastic idrive dial
the aftermarket looking rear screen for the rear idrive controls

German Nut & IamEvilHomer...you guys must be living on another planet. You say BMW is the one copying Audi with their new interior's and ergonomics, when it's clearly the total opposite! BMW's i-drive came out in 1999 on the Z9 concept car, and then was released into production on the 7-series in 2002. Audi released their i-drive like controller MMI in 2003 on the 04 A8.

Clearly Audi has taken their whole interior set-up idea used in the A6 & A8 from BMW by placing the Nav screen at the top of the dash, and a little nob to control it by the armrest. Sure Audi might make a nicer overall interior than BMW, but they tottally copied BMW on the ergonomics no question.

And if you ask me, the 7-series interior pictured here is up to par with any Audi.

Let's not get on to someone's "sppeeelling". They both make a cool vehicle. Audi has fabulous detail with their interiors. I think BMW has a great handling car but sometimes can make the interiors look a little cheap. Take the BMW 3 series - their cup holders are on the center and passenger dash (swing out). They are weak and too plastic looking. Personally, I never would have placed one there. They simply make the car look cheap in that aspect. Reminds me of the days when you'd drive into an A&W Rootbeer Drive-in; then they would hang one of those trays on your window.

Okay...the best "Edition Package" was one that BMW was going to put out when the current 7-Series was put out. They did some advertising on the "Yacht Edition".

The question posed, "What do you drive to your yacht?"

As I have said before the creme colored interior looks absolutely amazing.

It does look like it would match an offering from Audi's A8 but I can guarantee you the quality will not be as high, the finish will not be as high and there will be some cheap feeling plastics such as the i-Drive knob.

This is the cycle:

BMW launched i-Drive and MB along with Audi copied the concept.

The difference is Audi made their MMI more intuitive which will cause BMW to copy them in the next generation.

I praise BMW for setting the trend but I praise Audi even more for making their MMI even easier to use which will thereby FORCE BMW to improve upon their i-Drive and try to make it better than MMI

What am I missing in this story - I don't think the color combinations are georgeous - the black vinyl is "too black" and stark.

The color scheme just kills it other than that its a awesome car.

The exterior looks like a 7-series, which can be called anything other than attractive. I believe the politically correct term is "controversial".

The interior is what is called "shady lady": good from afar, but far from good. iDrive still makes the 7 an ergonomic nightmare, as do gadgets like the "the computer will decide when to cancel the signals because the driver can't" innovations.

I look forward to BMW returning to making attractive cars. I could then overlook their high defect numbers.

BMW leather sucks! audi leather are really nice their leather smell last long.

Are u stupid or somehting GermanNut i have never had a problem with iDrive its friggen easy whats everyones problem with it... and ummm whats cheap about the Idrive nob plastic its better then the AUDI MMI one...

Hey GermanNut the i-drive controller is aluminum with leather on top. You call that cheap? Your one of the many people who have and will criticize i-drive but yet, have never even laid hands on it.

Your knowledge of the materials used on the actual controller itself just goes to show you most likely have never used the actual system itself, and don't realize how easy it is to learn! My Dad is computer illiterate but is already able to work the i-drive system in my 650 just fine, and he's only been it a few times.

If he can figuer out with considerable ease, it should be a breeze to most people.

I agree 110% with MunichRob he hit the bullseye dead on... Idrive is great and the knob is made out of great materials.....

I agree with AussieBimmerRep and MunichRob. and u can never say BMW lacks quality coz u ll b lieing. The 3er is supposed to b like this since all the cars in its league r the same. but this edition of the 7er is awesome. its just adding more beauty to the beautiful. But the gauges have a weird color but it it still looks gd. As for jerry, this looks better than the 745 and i dont have any problem with the looks of the car. it looks gorgeous but i respect your opinion. As for Steve, wat dont u like about the 7er interior? if u havent noticed, all cars r copying it including M-B and audi. BMW was the 1st to put the screen ontop of the tablot.Isnt that ryt?
