FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW: Toyota Preps ANOTHER FT86 Concept...Really?
Oh-kay, now what is going on already? Toyota, so far, has showed us three different versions of the upcoming FT86 product but for the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, you would think it would have its act together by now.
No, it doesn't.
According to the latest video from the Japanese brand, it will AGAIN be displaying another concept. Seriously?
Don't get me wrong, I understand the brand wants a perfect product but it looks like the FT86 project is starting to turn into something like the LFA.
Hopefully the FT won't take another eight years to get to market...
Toyota creates the all new FT-86 II concept.
The FT-86 is faster, lighter, sportier and will be on display at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor show this September.

ooh, I'm bookmarking this page for when the numbers are revealed. I'm guessing 2900lbs.
What do you think the base power output and fuel economy will be?
I'm guessing 165hp @ 26mpg city 35mpg hwy

The celica and scirocco are both fwd cars. RWD platforms are heavier then comparable fwd platforms.
I expect 0-60 in about 7s.

No way this car comes anywhere close to a 5.5 second 0 - 60mph. Depending on how they option it out, somewhere between 5.9 sec, bone dry with a tiny driver to 6.5 - 6.9 seconds.
If the car sells in reasonable number, a "Supra" edition that will equal or beat the performance numbers of the last generation Supra.

I thought when the 2000GT came out, it was a super car? The FT86 will certainly not be a super car.

Potentcy is the name of the game here boys. Keep the car inexpensive and with very high tuner value and they will come. If toyota were smart they would have overbuilt the engine like the 2jz and put a low compression turbo around 200hp with oversized injectors. Tuners would love this! Going from n/a to turbo is sometimes costly but a turbo out of the box means the car is already setup for big power (well unless you are a mazda).
