Americans Think They Are GREAT Drivers - What Is The Truth?

Think you’re an excellent driver? If you’re an American, you probably do. According to a new survey by Allstate, 64 percent of American motorists rate their driving skills, knowledge, and safe-driving habits either “excellent” or “very good.”

They’re a lot less charitable when assessing other drivers. Only 29 percent ranked their close friends either “excellent” or “very good” behind the wheel. Asked about other people their own age, just 22 percent gave that group a favorable rating.

Drivers from surrounding states fared even worse, according to the phone survey of 1,000 adults (848 of whom drove at least occasionally). Only 8 percent of respondents rated those non-local folks near the top, while 53 percent appraised their driving skills as merely “average,” if not “poor.”

I love America but I think that In general, they are the worst drivers when talking about skills, Now If we talk about security, The are also the best of the world. When Skills are necessary Germans are the best in high speed in very wide roads. When you need people at high speed evading big holes on the streets at high speeds....Panama Central America, you see cars in the highways at one or 2 feet off the wall at very high speed also dodging the holes at the same time in tight roads. eldard : You may have some reason but the solution is not to kill them.

When I lived in NY it was always those dam driver's from "Jersey".New Yorkers always think their the best because they followed the rules of taxicab drivers in Manhattan. British drivers I've talked to always think their the best. Of course most of their non-highway roades have no shoulder to pull off to if you get stuck. Euro drivers feel they are the best because it is harder to get a drivers license their without taking a difficult test. In reality it depends on who you talk to. Your guarenteed to get a different opinion.

USA drives on the wrong side of the road. USA needs to do a Samoa and swap sides then they will be correct. No wonder they are bad drivers

Having driven in Germany many times, they are the best drivers. The understand the rules of the road and are very courteous. Also, they do not drive slow in the fast lane and leave it open unlike Americans which puddle along ina minivan in the fast lane slowing traffic.
