Could Kia's New RWD Sedan Be A Star At The Frankfurt Motor Show?
It's not much of a secret that Kia -- owned by parent Hyundai -- has been onto something with its vehicles over the past 24 months. Not only have they been selling at a good rate, the products have designs that are starting to catch eyes.

Maybe its because they are relatively European-inspired after Kia inherited one of Audi's designers. Well play, Kia. Well played.

The interesting thing about these newly "leaked" concept photos is that the new vehicle is a rear-wheel drive V8-powered car. According to reports it will likely be based on Hyundai's Genesis sedan, which makes a lot of sense.

Here's where things start to become clearer: has Hyundai set up its strategy so Hyundai targets luxury car buyers from Lexus and Mercedes-Benz with the Equus/Genesis, and Kia will eventually be the brand to steal sales from Audi and BMW?

What say you, Spies?

Leaked pictures have emerged of the Kia concept car that will be unveiled at next week's Frankfurt motor show.

The dramatic rear-drive saloon, which the unofficial images suggest will be named the GT, will be the first in a series of new concepts that Kia will use to explore new market segments and prove its capabilities of building style-led models above its current range of traditional hatchbacks, saloons and crossovers.

Official details of the four-door concept are scarce, and Kia hasn't officially released any fresh information or images, but Autocar understands it be based on sister firm Hyundai’s Genesis saloon, with a powerful V8 petrol engine featuring under the bonnet...

It most definitely could be. It has one of the most impressive looking concepts of the show.

If an Aston-Martin Rapide, Audi A7 & MB SLS got together while on a business trip to South Korea, this would be the result.

It's a great looking sedan. If Kia can bring this concept to market close to this, with additional improvements in performance & quality, for under $35,000, this car will be a game changer - Globally!

If I were in charge, Hyundai/Kia would end up like this:
(clears throat)
First of all, Hyundai would become even more boring than Toyota/Lexus is (barring the FT-86 and F Division cars). It would appeal to your average buyer who thinks of a car as an appliance. This is not what I'd like to do with Hyundai, but to make any money it would be necessary. Hyundai would make econoboxes alongside luxury sedans.

Kia, on the other hand, would become like Mazda. It would be geared toward enthusiasts and, again, make cars of all prices. All would offer great entertainment for the money and offer sticks. The Genesis Coupe would be a Kia. There would also be a high-performance division (think M, Quattro, Mazdaspeed).

The two brands would share engines and platforms as much as possible to save money, but without compromising their respective personalities (or for Hyundai, lack thereof).
