Is the Audi R10 Unstoppable?

2 races and 2 wins. Maybe the ACO is seeing the light.

Audi has always been good on developing an unfair advantage, this is similar to the banning of AWD in several series after Audi cars dominated the competition.

Maybe the ACO should stop beating around the bush an just ban Audi. And then ban any other car company who finds a way to improve on these awsome machines. Why stand in the way of innovation, especially in such a visable forum? Am I wrong?

I dont' think the ACO is trying to stand in the way of innovation. They are simply trying to determine if the extra fuel economy that a diesel offers overshadows what the race is really about, which is engineering and mechanical reliablity. The restriction would apply to everyone, not just Audi. Audi just has the distinction of being the first to do this.

Honestly, I'd say a fuel efficent diesel *is* engineering and mechanical reliability. It's not like they drove any more or less the the others. The did it, they did it reliably, and they did it efficiently. You're trying to penalize them why?

This adjustment scares away major manufacturers. Soon Acura, and Pegout will join. But in 2010 the ACO will again modify rules that will ban the current prototypes and force the current prototypes to have roofs. A manufacturer will not spend lots of money to have to completely change their race car in two years. They better be carefull.

ACO news, they might restrict the size of the Audi R10 feul tanks, because they want to make sure that each car is putting in the same amount of "energy" at each stop... Pretty stupid, just because Audi Embarrased home town hero Henri Prescarolo 3 years in a row... Sad, but true...

It's petty really. It's no different from how the Audi quattro cars carry a mandated weight penalty because of the "unfair" advantage of quattro. I have to ask, why's it unfair? Because Audi is the only manufacturer competing with AWD cars or diesel-powered cars? Seems to me it's just the competition whining that they can't beat these cars because of their added technology. That's not Audi's problem and in fact, that's all the more reason they should be allowed to carry-on their technology-driven racing campaigns without added penalties. This is what racing's all about, a driver and his machine versus another driver and his machine. So Audi has a better machine, I suggest the competition step up to the plate!
