Massachusetts Governor Declares
After declaring this “Car-Free Week” in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Governor Deval Patrick was caught by Boston’s CBS affiliate being driven to work in the back of his Chevrolet Tahoe. In classic do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do political form, Patrick was quick to point out that he was merely carpooling with his state police assigned driver.

All political parties are reaching out to green-socialists. The automobile, once a symbol of freedom and independance, has been portrayed as the enemy since the late 1960s. Putting the blame on only one political party is simply enabling the other to do nothing pro-active (like drilling in Alaska).

12:00AM / Tuesday, April 06, 2004

Which state has the worst drivers? The most annoying bird-flipping, red light-running, fender-bending drivers? According to a new television poll, it's Massachusetts.

A non-scientific survey of SPEED Channel viewers ranked the Bay State at the top - or bottom, more accurately - of the worst driver ranking. More than 16,000 people voted in the survey, with Florida finishing second, California third and New York drivers coming finishing fourth.

SPEED Channel's Dave Despain conducted six weeks of online balloting. Each week, 10 states were listed, with the top two moving into the final round. The top (worst) five:

1. Massachusetts - 19 percent of the votes
2. Florida, 16.1 percent
3. California, 15.8 percent
4. New York, 12.2 percent
5. New Jersey, 9.1 percent"
