WHICH Automaker Has The BEST And MOST Meaningful Logo?

A logo says a lot about a brand. You don't have to believe me but if you ask any designer they'd agree.

Probably the biggest joke between designers is when their client asks "Oh, can you design a logo -- that shouldn't take too long, right?"

WRONG!

That's because a logo is one of the most instantly recognizable aspects of any brand. For instance, when you hear Mercedes-Benz, most likely the image of a three-pointed star appears in your head.

BMW, the propeller and sky.

Audi, the rings.

And so on, and so forth.

But WHICH one has the most fantastic meaning behind it?

mercedes' three-pointed star. elegant, instantly recognizable by most of the planet, and it's been used consistently by the company for more than 100 years.

Rolls Royce by far. MB's three pointed star has found its way onto work trucks and semi's. BMW does not have the auto racing history of Audi or MB.

If you know anything at all about automotive history, you'd realize that Benz and Daimler were one of the first companies to venture into new market niches after the creation of the automobile and that includes trucks, buses, vans etc. Why? Because they saw a market for it. I'm talking about the late 19th and early 20th century here, when the automobile was in its infancy.

And who cares? All over the world Mercedes cars, trucks and buses etc. are highly regarded - making their logo even more recognizable, the initial question of this thread.

The three pointers of the Mercedes logo stands for motorization on land, at sea and in the air by the way.

While the Flying Lady is a symbol, the Double R of Rolls-Royce is perceived in as a symbol of luxury, power and prestige. Whether mounted in the front of a Spitfire, underneath a Boeing 747 or 777 or used to power specialty vehicles used to set land, sea and air speed records, the double RR stands for the epitome of powered movement.

While the three pointed star means many things to its devoted fans, the brand has been muddled by being placed on semi's, work truck and military vehicles.

Believe, it is NOT my favorite brand. I think they are soft and pretentious, and yes I have ridden and driven one.
