Powerful AMG styling for the new CL-Class

For the new CL-Class, the ultimate luxury coupé, Mercedes-AMG has now developed two AMG optional extras: a powerful AMG bodystyling package and expressive 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels with mixed-width tyres. These distinctive AMG components are available for both engine versions. The AMG bodystyling for the new Mercedes-Benz CL-Class comprises a front and rear apron and side skirts. The redesigned front bumper with enlarged air intakes and chrome-ringed circular fog lamps is lithe and athletic in appearance. Typical AMG styling, with two slanted struts and a smooth transition to the prominent wheel arches, gives a strong air of confidence and emphasises the sense of width.

The AMG side skirts carry the muscular lines seamlessly through to the AMG rear apron. The rear bumper with its black insert and chrome trim strip flanked by tailpipes on either side creates a dynamic and exclusive impression.

19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels combine superb looks with optimal handling

Also available for the new CL-Class, as an optimal complement to the AMG bodystyling, are 19-inch five-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels with embossed AMG lettering. The high-sheen rim flange and spokes are always eye-catching, whether the vehicle is standing still or on the move. The 8.5/9.5-inch-wide wheels carry 255/40 (front) and 275/40 (rear) tyres. The wide AMG wheels fill out the prominent wheel arches perfectly, giving the side view a sporty appearance.

AMG bodystyling and AMG light-alloy wheels available for both engine versions

Pre-orders are already being taken for the AMG bodystyling and AMG light-alloy wheels. The market launch date will be September 2006. The AMG components are available for both the eight-cylinder CL 500 and the V12 top-of-the-line CL 600 model. The ex-factory prices are EUR 5,336 for the AMG bodystyling package and EUR 3,132 (CL 500)/EUR 1,972 (CL 600) for the AMG light-alloy wheels (all figures include 16 % VAT).

Mathew, this means i was right about the CL's front bumper in the previous blog.

The CL's bumper in the previous blog was HEAVILY CAMOUFLAGED.This is the real thing.A typical AMG Style.

Well in the AMG package the CL is looking great from the front & dide and OK from the rear.

This car is so hot, I am loving it. If only I had the cash, I'd get one in a heartbeat. I wouldn't need the AMG CL, the normal CL550 should be more than enough to suit the needs of my wife and I. The stock model looks beautiful, but with the AMG package, the car looks even classier and sportier. Damn!

Kudos to the MB designers with this one!

This thing is hideous. Whatever happened to elegance?
The AMG package makes it worse. The wheel rims look too fragile and easy for valet-parking types to destroy. Nevertheless the vehicle will sell for a year or so and then fade to obsurity like the current model.

Although the rear Seems a little round it all evens out

MercBasher, don't be a fool and bash something you haven't seen yet. Sometimes pictures do no justice until you see it and feel it. I sure hope you're not some punk kid who thinks you know it all. How do you know a person who owns one of those won't park a car themselves?. "Rich" people don't always depend on valet parking you know. You watch too many movies. Stick your head out of the tube bro. This is reality.

I as a MB fan am not 100% crazed about this new design but it isn't bad at all. You have to learn to appreciate design. Just like Courtstone said Like it but not Love it.

Anyway besides me grilling on you about your comment, I do think it should do well in that segment. The CL600/AMG 55 & 65 is in the Bentley GT coupe range. I believe it is in direct competition with it. It will be interesting to see how the sales go. Until I see one in person my status with it remains 'liking' it.

yeah lexus are fashion leaders.......apart from the fact the sc looks like a toyota (i don't know which one, the fat convertible one), the ls looks like a deeply unfashionable cadillac (like a 90s deville crossed with the 90-99 s class), the lx is a toyota, so is the gx, the gs looks very chubby and quite a bit like a toyota avensis (a brit model) the IS and rx are the only ones that look alright.
and like BMW530i says, where is the lexus in this design?
i like it, especially the amg package.

Hey MBFan604 - just because I'm young, rich, retired, and a user of valet parking doesn't mean I have to like this new CL. I don't. . . and I thought the previous CL was georgeous when it was introduced in around the year 2000

And Rupert I agree with you on Lexus lacking design leadership. Their one great vehicle was the SC400 / SC300 in the 1990s. However I prefer bland over ugly and you got to admit that some of the BMWs are pretty damn ugly.
