Ghosn says "no" to top spot at GM; is not currently talking with Ford

As talks approach with General Motors head Rick Wagoner, Carlos Ghosn is stating that he has no desire to head up the conglomerate if a merger of sorts takes place. Apparently, he feels that he's busy enough running both Nissan and Renault. Ghosn did show some interest in getting a board seat if a deal was struck with GM, though.

Can you imagine the whole thing back-firing and the "OAF" Wagoner getting the role - that way not only GM goes down the tubes, but also Renault and Nissan

Your right PlanoA4 (buy the way I live in Plano too). It will be interesting to see what happens.

Although I wouldn't buy GM. I dont won't to see GM go down, because the people that will feel it the most are the good 'ole American blue collar workers. Rick Wagoner won't loose much (he's already rich), its the middle-class that will lose those jobs.

I'm curious to see what GM brings to the table. Renault & Nissan are doing pretty well. Ghosn did mention that the alliance (not merger) would help bump up production for Nissan in the States by possibly re-using some of the plants scheduled for shutdown by GM.

Courtstone - Nice to see someone from the hood here. If this panned out it will be hilarious to watch. both strong willed egomongers against a GM board that has its own ideas. I would love to buy a bag of popcorn and a big gulp and listen to the board meetings. Let the fireworks begin.
