Center-mounted air bag. It makes you wonder when the first impact cocoon will come out. All they lack is roof and floor air bags.

If this were from Lexus, BlackDynamite would be praising it like there was no tomorrow. But since this is coming from Lexus worst enemy Hyundai, he feels threatened! ;-p

They should concentrate on brand's image rather than 10 speed transmissions...what's next six wheels?

Many may argue brand image is already better than Lexus. Just sayin....

Lexus was the first with 8 speed automatic.

BTW 10 speed? isn't that many too gears but now when you are having 7 speed manuals so this only normal progression i guess and if setup correctly drivers won't notice it just like 8 speed equipped cars.

Yes Jugnu, but surely you realize that with this headline, 009 was baiting Lexus fans as he always does by trying to directly compare Hyundai to Lexus. But that's okay, he can continue to live in his delusional world where these morons who post here reside. Ugh. I know this site started pretty low, but it has deteriorated to the point of no redemption lately.

These transmission wars are getting super dorky....Imagine how much it would cost to replace a 10 speed transmission

Do we REALLY need 10-speed gearboxes!? Come on, concentrate on more progressive ideas.

that's easy :) put a 4 speed and then a 5 speed in series.

If you want to improve fuel economy by 40% just put diesel in a car with 6 speed auto, you need like 15 speed transmision with gas engine to match that.

With that many gears it makes more sense to have a CVT.

CVT are not sexy or make for great advertising campaigns. CVTs are also costly to develop and maintain if not engineered correctly. CVTs also do not handle high horsepower applications well.

You also have to realize that most transmissions are not designed in-house.

CVT's have high frictional losses which aren't offset by their gains in the engine operating at specific speeds.

Does anyone really cares about this? Do people really make purchases based on the amount of speeds the trasmission have? I don't even know how speeds the cars in my household have (2009 LS460, 2008 VW Touareg and 2010 Mini). Do we care? NO!

Clearly, this shows just how much Hyundai has advanced. Fact is, they are a brand on the fast track.

We have 2 basically identical vehicles. The '04 has 200hp v6/4 speed. The '09 has 240hp v6/6 speed. Mileage with the '09 is about 15% better.

Get used to it.

"Enjoy. The gov't knows its in trouble but won't do anything."
Ignoring that US government was close to two shut downs this year. In addition, social security was threaten to not be delivered to the retired this year because they could hardly afford it. Also ignoring that unmployment is greater than 9% in the US this year. Why don't you worry about America before you worry about some other country's business?
