Ford acts to rev up stalled turnaround

For the umpteenth time. Remember when the Ford Contour/Mercury Mystique combo were supposed to resurrrect a stalled Ford? Bet you don't. That was ten years ago. Then Ford decided that the silver bullet was to build more and more SUVs. Remember the Ford Excursion? That school bus size monstrosity was later mercifully killed. Did you notice that during that time Toyota had increased production of the Prius and was working on a restyle? Go figure. Executives of the both companies (Ford and Toyota) were reading the same tea leaves. Could it be that Toyota realized that India and China were on fire and sucking up the world's oil supply? Why didn't Ford (and for that matter GM) executives see that as well?

Then they decided to bring in the great-grandson of Edsel Ford. Heck, a little pedigree couldn't hurt, could it? Oops! That didn't work, either.

Now comes the next in the series of "turnarounds." Which is the same solution as the last. Good luck, Ford. That loud noise you hear is the sound of me yawning. Wake me up when you are the World's No. 1 Automaker.
