Bentley To Add 650HP Continental GT2 In 2012
Bentley will launch a GT2 version of its top-selling Continental next year, new boss Wolfgang Durheimer has told Auto Express.

The model will be at least 200kg lighter than the standard GT, weighing 2,200kg, and will develop a staggering 650bhp – that’s nearly 100bhp more than the regular coupe. This would mean a 0-60mph sprint time of less than four seconds and a top speed of well over 200mph.

Durheimer would not confirm whether the GT2 will use the existing W12 engine or the new twin-turbo V8, due in 2012.

Most likely it will have the W12 as that engine will develop 650 horsepower more easily than the new V8 which will be the "base" engine.

I disagree. If Bentley is looking to shed weight, the smaller engine is the way to go. The article said both of those caged tornadoes can comfortably produce 600hp anyway.

So this is effectively the next-gen Continental Supersports with a back seat added back in and RWD. I can't wait, as this will be sure to kick butt in a much less civilized manner (RWD + 650hp = smoky slideways nirvana) than most Bentleys would ever dirty their hands with. It will really have no competition - and ultra-expensive, large four-seat coupe? Anyone else? Maybe the CL63 AMG, but it's not nearly as expensive as this will be.
