SPECIAL TRIBUTE: Visionary And Creative Genius Steve Jobs Dead At 56
It is a very sad day today around the world, in cyberspace and at Auto Spies as we learned Steve Jobs passed away today at age 56.

Company statement:

Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.

If you would like to share your thoughts, memories, and condolences, please email rememberingsteve@apple.com

As the former Technical Advisor to the President of Apple Canada I can say without reservation that not only would AutoSpies.com NOT exist, but I would never have gotten to the position I have in life or appreciated the beautiful details in life if it wasn't for him.

I was fortunate to meet him a number of times, mostly when he was running Next and Pixar and I can tell you from personal experience, NO ONE, BUT NO ONE was like him or radiated the magical vibe that he was able to.

He would tell me how he was sad he wasn't at Apple and always asked me first in our conversations how everyone was doing there and that he loved Apple.

I am deeply saddened personally because I realize how few REALLY great people are left walking this planet and he was without question one of the greatest.

RIP Steve and may God bless you and your family.

Thank you for what you did because what you did was INSANELY GREAT!

Let us know your thoughts and let us know your favorite things about him and Apple.

p.s. I also enjoyed the classy tribute from Bill

"I’m truly saddened to learn of Steve Jobs’ death. Melinda and I extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to everyone Steve has touched through his work. Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives. The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come. For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it’s been an insanely great honor. I will miss Steve immensely." -- Microsoft Co-founder Bill Gates

He didn't invent the mousetrap, but he sure could re-invent them and make it the best damn mousetrap anyone has ever used. When we look back on our history I don't know if he'll get the same recognition as Ford or Edison but I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the same history book someday. RIP Steve

I work for Universal Music Group, and Steve Jobs and Apple changed the way we do business. He changed the way we buy and listen to music. Because of Apple, I have an incredibly great job in digital music. I'm fortunate to have a lot of friends that work for Apple and iTunes in Cupertino, and I can tell you that anyone would be lucky to work for that company. They're all family, and are all treated as such. I'm fortunate to get to work with Apple on a daily basis. I never did have the opportunity to meet him, but I feel like he changed my life in many ways.

RIP Mr. Jobs. Your vision will live on!

Thanks for sharing personal interactions with him, 001. He was so private, we don't get to see that side.
