Hybrid Sales DECLINE 20% In September
Hybrid sales declined from August—showing a drop of more than 20 percent compared to a year ago, while the overall market was up 10 percent compared to last September. Sales apparently were hit by continuing supply shortages of the Prius, and a slide in gas prices. Nobody knows were gas prices will go, but we expect Prius sales to increase as inventory returns. Volumes on other Japanese hybrids also declined, due both to availability and exchange rate issues.

The article is about Hybrid vehicles sales.
Anybody who will not acknowledge that the two Tsunamis has had an impact in the market should have his or her head examined.
The new Prius plug-in will eventually exterminate the regular Prius sales if they can boost up battery full electric range close to a minimum of 40 miles instead of 13 miles.
Electric vehicles sales are an emerging market threat to Hybrid vehicle sales.
Nissan sold 1,031 of the 2011 Leaf electric vehicle in the month of September 2011 a decline from the 1,362 units sold in August. The key advantage for Nissan is that their preordering process has allowed them to take 20,000 orders for new electric vehicles so at this point, they are literally able to sell the cars as fast as they can build them. Nissan has not accepted a new order for the Leaf in almost a year yet with just 7,199 electric vehicles sold this year Nissan still has almost 13,000 customers who put their name on the list for a 2011 Nissan Leaf. Chevrolet dealerships have to sell the vehicles one at a time rather than having an ongoing waiting list like Nissan. It will be interesting to see how the sales of both electric vehicles continue into the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012, as Nissan is forced to begin relying on dealership purchases rather than online preorders, much like the Chevy Volt.

No excuses next month. The inventories should be back up to snuff.
