WHICH Tuner Scene Is The WORST?

WHICH Tuner Scene Is The WORST?
Now if there is one thing that leaves a bad taste in my mouth, it is tuners. Not because their cars have coffee can exhausts or their mods actually do more harm than good. It's because of other things.

Take, for example, a situation that recently happened to me.

Here I am piloting what is likely one of the most gorgeous pieces of design to hit the roads -- the Lotus Evora S -- when I see something flying up behind me with a set of fake HID bulbs. Soon enough this bright blue car is beside me with revving his motor and doing whatever is in his power to get my attention. Then, I realize it's a Dodge Neon SRT4 that has a bunch of carbon fiber and an exhaust that is essentially spewing farts.

After numerous attempts to showboat next to me, the driver finally realized I wasn't going to give him a run for his money.

Now it's not so much the car as it's the attitude. I can appreciate anyone that loves an automobile and goes the distance to make it personal. With that said, WHICH tuner scene is the WORST?

The worst? The any tuner that knows little about cars, can't afford a decent car, and puts walmart sourced parts to make their ride "fast".

On the "cheap" I have no problem with an economy car with high end tyres, or simple nondescript intake/ecu mods.

They all can be bad, maybe the funny cars with the hydraulics and little tires, there is no performance there, there is way less than stock, so it is opposite to making your ride performance oriented, the 4x4 crowd can be just as bad in some of there mods, most 4x4 nuts don't understand the whole idea, they jack it all up, blocks under the rear leafs for more exaggerated wheel hop, no gearing done with huge tires....Every group is guilty of ignorance, we all have plenty of them.

Absolutely!

My nephew bought one a few years ago and I was quite surprised at the level of performance it delivered for so little money.

Doesn't the SRT-4 only hold 0.85g in a corner while the Evora holds 0.99? Going by this, the Evora can go about 61mph around a 250ft radius corner, while the SRT-4 is limited to about 56.5mph

You are truly ignorant or 15 years old. Okay its one thing to like a car company, and you like Chrysler. Thats fine, but your delusions are ridiculous! You are a blind fanboy. Your comments prove it. There is no way that SRT4 could mess with a Lotus. Sure you can add boost and beat him in a drag race if the engine doesn't blow up but as soon as a corner comes up the SRT4 is outta luck. Plus that engine is not very durable in the first place. Ask anyone with modded ones making over 300hp. I have a few co-worksers that have tuned ones and while they love the, at leas they admit the flaws and love them for a real reason, rather than blindly loving them over stupidity. Chrysler isn't the Holy grail of the automotive world, no automaker is. Okay the 300 is slightly more fun to drive than a camry and handles slightly better. A VW Passat 2.0t is faster than the more powerful v6 and as quick as the previous hemi with an automatic and handles better while being much more fuel efficient. It certainly had far better interior. Chrylser has now improved their interiors and are doing a great job with a couple of cars but are also doing poorly with the Avenger and Sebring/200. The Jeep Cherokee is still not as offroad capable as the Land Rover Discovery IV/LR4 but is certainly a worthy competitor (finally) the Wrangler is good, and the Charger/300/Challenger are far better than their FWD rivals but thats about it. Don't try to compare them to higher end cars because they are not higher end cars. The best is the 300, and that is entry level luxury at best.

I thought we were talking about a stock neon which goes 0-60 in 5.4s?

Knowledge is the issue here. All tuners have those few oddballs. The ones that buy a bunch of parts from the "super fast and cool" section of Import Tuner or Super Street magazines without really knowing what each part does or what its for. Give those guys a few minutes and if your knowledgeable, give them an advice or two. Now, if they're in love with their neon colored, fake carbon fiber, oversize LED's, super square widebody kit tin can of a car...well, not everyone has good taste lol.

If that neon were modified? Then it would have destroyed that Lotus. What else can 00R do at that point other than make fun of the neon driver's bad taste. Got to save face somehow. :)

Uh, no, because I don't blindly like mediocre car company like Chrysler so much that I make very ignorant statements about it or compare it to cars it has no chance of being as good as. BTW ZF is a German company, so congrats, your German/American car now has another German Transmission to replace the previous 5 speed German Transmission. Chrysler's best cars are based on Mercedes Platforms. The rest are crap. Yes Chrysler is on to something and they are changing for the better, and thats all good and fine, but come on, get your head out of the clouds and stop saying retarded comments suggesting that Chrysler is better than everything else. I suppose you will say the Chrysler K cars were light years ahead of the Hondas and Toyotas of that era, that they were better built, better performing and better looking.

How many touring car events have they won? The TJ still has crappy interior, poor fit and finish, and poor chassis dynamics. A stock Land Rover Discovery will beat it offroad. Land Rover is the only vehicle to drive around the world. Ever watch the Discovery Channel, there are only Land Rovers and Toyota Land Cruisers because nothing else holds up like they do plust their offroad ability far exceeds that of anything we make, and anything we make that is comparable offroad doesn't last as long and hold up to the elements. When I was in Kuwait, our new GM trucks were breaking down left and right, and the A/C on all of them was weak or didn't work. Stereos wenmt out and electrical problems galore, but lo and behold, the older Toyota Land Cruiser was not only better, but never broke down, had an ice cold A/C and the CD player still worked and it was twice as old as the oldest American vehicle we had. Screw resale value. Some of the worst cars have great resale value. A Land Rover defender has an astronimical resale value. Used 1995 models go for over $30,000. Top that with your Chrysler crap. Mopar stands for Mitsubishis old parts and re-builds. And Chryslers minivans were never better than Toyots and Hondas, especially in the reliability department. The interior quality wasn't even a competition. Chryslers had the crappiest fall apart interiors, while they Japanese interiors held up and were far more pleasant to the touch.
