Will the Audi R8 make the Mercedes-Benz SL500/55 AMG, BMW 650i/M6 look bad?

Fortunately, it will be in the same class of cars in both price and direct compeition. Audi is aiming for the Porsche 911 and along with that comes the Mercedes SL and BMW 6-series.

Say bye-bye SL55 & M6 because this car witll have a Lamborghini V10 with MORE torque and only slightly less horsepower.

The Audi, while at the same price range, will be significantly above those two cars in performace, as it is built as a sports car, not a GT cruiser. The RS4 already matches or defeats the mentioned cars in performance, the lighter R8 will demolish them.

The R8 first of all will be a 2-seater and secondly it will be made of an aluminum space-frame just like the A8.

Get ready for a rocket with this car.

GermanNut get over yourself! Audi isn't going to be surpassing BMW or Mercedes anytime soon. There's nothing Audi can release that will make an M6 look like a spec of dust.

Besides by the time the R8 is released by Audi, will be seeing a new SL from Mercedes along with an upgraded M6 CSL version from BMW.

Also if the R8 is based of an A8 platform and is a big-body coupe like the Bimmer 6, guaranteed it'll be heavier than the RS4, and because it'll be fitted with quattro, as heavy as an M6/650i coupe.

They gotta make a convertible too just like the gallado spyder!

all i know is that it is getting better every day selling Audis and it is nice to have more models that we will not discount and have a waiting list for

Is right. The Audi will demolish the SL55 AMG and the M6 becuase those are GT cars. BMW doesn't have anything that competes with the R8. Mb doesn't have anything that directly competes with the R8. They are quite sporty, but are still comfy. The RS4 ALREADY matches/surpasses those two cars. The R8 will be at least 600 pounds lighter with the same amount of hp. When the V10 version comes out, that will be an awesome machine. Still, the V8 version will be awesome as well.

I doubt the Q7 will boost Audi sales. SUV's aren't going to be popular if gas prices rise. Cars like the A4 or A6 will make the difference.

Did anyone ever think(before you go up in flames my dads a oil provider as in one of the men that are involved in the price of fuel around the world) that every companys gonna start losing sales soon because very soon fuel prices are about to go up 30%on average per gallon... In austrlaians terms that from about $1.40 to $1.79 on average... this will affect not only AUDI (GermanNut) but all car manufactures... Hold up whos the one producing hydrogen celled fueled cars... the market leaders and thrre still gonna be market leaders in 2015... BMW is always going to outsell Audi> Audi are great cars in all ways but BMW is just that tiny little bit greater...

Why does everyone base their arguement for Audi surpassing BMW due to their great interiors? Since when did a great interior make a great car? Good job Audi you have a nice interior, what else do you do well? The staple mate of Audi is the A4. Compared to a BMW 325, it is slower, depreciates faster, doesnt handle as well, brake as well and costs within a few thousand of a BMW. Huh ? The A6, excells at what, the interior again. That makes complete sense on how they will pass BMW. 2 of their models have nice interiors. You know how ridiculous that seems that this is the base for your arguement of why Audi will outsell BMW in 5 years.... Huh? Audi is going to make a supercar the R8 and compete with the BMW M6. So? What is your point? It will still not outsell the BMW nor the Mercedes. I dont care if it is faster or handles better. When clients are spending about $100 large on a car, the name is about as important as the car is. If it was solely based upon speed and handling, then the Lotus Elise would be the budget buy. The name and recognition of a car means ALOT to the very affluent client. EGO's are very important. If you have $100k to spend and we went out in the street to ask people what kind of car they would buy, I promise you that AUDI would barely be mentioned. It would be Mercedes, Porsche, BMW ...... enought said ...
