Is Honda's NSX Going To Slot Below Or Above The LFA When It Debuts Next Year?

Honda's R&D chief Mibe Toshihiro has confirmed to Autocar that work is underway to produce a new sportscar in the mould of the iconic Honda NSX - and separate reports suggest it could be on sale as early as next year.

Responding to comments made by Honda president Takanobu Ito about the new NSX, Toshihiro said that Honda was ready to start work on the next generation of its electric and hybrid vehicles, and suggested that a new sportscar would be evaluated as part of that project.

Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing Honda bring back the X!

If it's faster than the LFA, Lexus fans will insist the LFA isn't a true supercar, its a grand tourer like the SLS or Ferrari 599 and therefore has a more refined ride and is therefore the LFA is better. If it's slower than the LFA... Lexus fans will insist its a supercar and that the LFA is still faster.

Knowing this, I'd say make the NSX faster so you can silence the competition in one regard. Then badge it as an Acura for that "refinement".

I agree completely thats how they describe it now when compared to the GTR, my guess is that Honda will price it far below the LFA give the $80,000 price the last NSX had back in 2005 Im pretty sure it may run higher though than the GTR in price. As excited as I am to see one of my favorites cars being brought back I still feel as if Honda should be concetrated more on fixing Acura its lost would be luxury brand thar ironically started the whole Japanese luxury sub brand concept.

If its above the LFA its a worthless use of corporate assets. At the LFA's price level or higher its not aspirational...its aspirating
(your money). So many better choices with heritage at LFA price range.
Truly believe Honda would be better off at the $70,000 price point.

For the sake of knowledge transfer and image enhancement, I'd think Honda will choose to go against Nissan GT-R with its SH-AWD.

Joe_Limon,
You are completely right with your statement. Eventhough I am Lexus owner I don't care about the LFA, too overpriced. I would take a GTR anyday and invest the different in GOOG and APPL!

From an enthusiast's standpoint, I'd love to see Acura/Honda take on the Aventador as the LFA has done. From a business standpoint, it is guaranteed to flop just as its predecessor did if it's anything more than a Cayman fighter because the idiotic mass market cares more about how prestigious a supercar's badge is than how well it drives. That's why the original NSX was such a failure: it wasn't labeled a Porsche or Ferrari.

how was the original a Failure?? It sales certainly slowed down towards the end but it was essentially the same car in 2005 as it was in 1989 it was no longer competitive in any right and WAY to expensive. It even lacked basic things that other Hondas and Acura had its failure wasnt in its badge it was in Hondas lack of keeping pace with the times...

The NSX was a failure, sales-wise, because it was an Acura, a brand that doesn't carry the prestige or heritage of Porsche, Jaguar, Ferrari, etc. Supercar buyers didn't care that the NSX was easier to drive, cheaper, and more reliable than its competition, at least when it was first released. They just wouldn't want to be seen driving anything Japanese, and that's why this new NSX will be an equally horrendous disaster if it's over $70k. Personally, I'd love to own an early model (although I agree that toward the end of its lifespan it was surpassed by its competition).

Honda Honda Honda, you just don't listen do you... Your products are the slowest selling in the market and yet you are focused on a supercar while the rest of the lineup needs desperate attention. I gave up on you LONG ago... RIP HONDA and ACURA

It must be mid engine and upcoming 991 Turbo should be the target to beat.
