SPIED: NEW Images Of Mercedes-Benz's CLS
If you fancy yourself a luxury wagon, Mercedes-Benz has just the right fit for you. Although Agent 009 showed some initial spy photographs depicting the CLS "Shooting Brake" sporting brake, we've got a deluge of all-new images for you right here.

Considering how you guys went crazy the first go around, we knew you'd enjoy the latest batch.

Seen in different colors and different wheel options, it's an interesting take on the wagon and I'd venture out to say this is Mercedes' best answer towards cars like the Audi A7, BMW 5-Series GT, and Porsche Panamera  since they all have rear hatches instead of trunks.

Pure speculation here, but I'd guess that Mercedes didn't want to ruin a good thing with its four-door coupe styling and decided it was in the CLS' best interest to keep it as a standard sedan and release a "shooting brake" for those who want the utility of a hatch.

Didn't think this would actually make it to production, pretty cool.

I like this Panamera, I mean, Shooting Brake; especially, if it'll look as good as on auto show photos (I like those side mirrors and spacious trunk.) Hope they'll offer more engine choices, too.

Mercedes are just making too many models. This is another unnecessary and unasked-for model. Mercedes also currently testing a baby CLS on new B class platform.

"Mercedes are just making too many models. This is another unnecessary and unasked-for model."

And you know this model is "unnecessary" because you have access to their market research data, right?

Portfolio diversification is they key to success in this day and age and that also applies to luxury cars. Back in the 1990s most luxury brands only had a small, midrange and high-end luxury sedan and perhaps a convertible and an SUV. That won't work today - you need products, products and more products.

This car and all other cars Mercedes and all other brands are planning to produce are more than necessary. It ensures their popularity among their customers and their survival.

MercedesUSA is currently researching whether to add a luxury TRUCK to their lineup. Yes, a truck. There is no info whether it will be added to their commercial lineup (along with Sprinter van) or to a regular lineup.

MB is slicing the balony too thin. Too many models and not enough focus on the core C/E/S/SL being truely excellent. Brand distinction is turning to mush.

Mercedes could bring this to North America, but only if they stopped selling the E-class wagon here. Having both in SUV-loving America would be too much internal competition. In Europe, though, where wagons are much more popular, it's not a bad idea. It will be the most luxurious wagon on the market, thereby occupying a new niche and having little competition.

So, the Dodge Magnum wasn't good enough, huh?

Fiat & M-B did well with the Grd Cherokee, Durango, & ML. They should partner again for a new, refined Dodge Magnum using the CLS wagon as a benchmark.
