Kia Chairman Says Wants To Emulate Volkswagen Quality But Avoid Toyota Mistakes

Kia plans to sell 500,000 vehicles in the United States next year, setting a sales benchmark for the company here. The Korean automaker also will expand its U.S. retail network to 800 dealers next year from 760, strengthening its presence in 20 key metro areas.

Leading the U.S. and global sales plan is Hank Lee, 59, vice chairman of Kia Motors Corp. and the brand's highest ranked global executive.

There's a big difference b/t wanting & actually doing. If Hyundai gets to big, "mistakes" may be unavoidable. I'm sure Toyota didn't want some huge recall/equipment scandal. See Ford/Firestone tire debacle. Something happens to all big auto companies in the US when their doing well at the top.

Just be prepared.
