Just What Is Fair Pay For A Trade? Growing Numbers Of Ford Workers Angry At Making Only $60K A Year
A bright red Ford Focus sits illuminated on a platform just outside the automaker's Wayne, Michigan, assembly plant, a proud symbol of the company's success in reinventing itself under Chief Executive Officer Alan Mulally.

The plant, which is just a 15-minute drive down Michigan Avenue from Ford Motor Co headquarters, has become an emblem of the automaker's turnaround under Mulally, who became CEO in September 2006

Give them opt out options and I'm sure they'll be satisfied. If they can opt out of $50k or more of benefits packages they'll be making 6 figure wages while potentially costing the company less.

Hmm,, a tiered system based on benefits. It isn't that uncommon in the private sector to forgo unused benefits for cash in hand.

They would rather payraise themselves out of a job.

Let's see how this works on Round 2 after labor wages, retirement and health care nearly bankrupted 3 American Automotive Companies. Before bankruptcy, every car Chevy sold had $7,300 going to employee benefits, not including any incentives or anything else. We saw how that worked before, let's try it again. As for the workers, everyone deserves a fair pay, but every company is the same, they make more, you make less. To be B**ching about $60k a year is just selfish. There's a reason why the Japanese plants aren't union, you work hard, do your job and you get to keep it at a fair wage. Nuff said.

$60,000. with medical and dental is good for a low level job working on an assembly line, it is a living wage, and they do deserve it, they may be a little spoiled, maybe $70,000. would be better for them? It all depends on there cost of living, it would be a bit small on the west coast of B.C, Canada, but in some smaller towns where houses are $100,000. it would be ok.

Another point of interest when you mention Japan, they are way ahead of America with pay scales, In Japan the pay difference from CEOS to the worker are 15-1, since they don't pay the CEO so much at to almost bankrupt the company they can pay the workers a living wage and still be competitive, in America the pay difference is 400/1, can you see a problem! So next time you want to complain about unions getting too much just think about this one guy that probably doesn't do that much and gets 400X$80,000.=$32,000,000. did I make a mistake here? Is this what the occupy wall street protesters angry about? If you make over $55,000. you are a 1%er that is one percent of the wealthiest on earth, I am a 1%er, and so are he majority of the protesters, lol, it's the .2% that we are after like the ceos of over paid American corporations
