Can The Industry Take Lessons From Disney On Improving The Buying Experience?
Most people go to Disneyland for the rides. Peter Hoffman is going there to learn how to sell rides.

Hoffman, the owner of Sierra Chevrolet in Monrovia, and other Chevrolet dealers and their sales staffs are headed for classes at the Anaheim theme park and elsewhere designed to turn fast-talking car salesmen into personable Prince Charmings.

They will learn such rules as a prince or princess never smokes in public. That takes the magic out of the Magic Kingdom. They will also learn that sometimes it's better to be a little bit like Dopey. The silent dwarf doesn't have to say anything to make people feel good. When it comes to purchasing cars, customers remember less about what the sales staff said than they do about the experience they had at the dealership.

Your still going to be dealing with a salesman. Disney can't change the person.

Go to an Apple Store, or even Nordstrom's and you get a warm fuzzy feeling from a salesperson.

Nothing like kiss your butt service to keep em coming back.

When I bought my hyundai I didn't like the sales person at one dealership so I drove 30 minutes to get on that I did like.

I hate it when I see dealerships being re-branded. I would prefer to buy from a covered parking lot from a salaried sales clerk.

Blame the state franchise laws for blocking competition, or preventing manufacturers from pulling a bad francise. Local dealer contribute heavily to state political races, in turn, they write laws to favor them.

Bankruptcy was the only change Chrysler/GM had to dump a lot of bad dealers.
