BMW 1-series finally coming to the USA?

Weve had then for ages australia... better looking real life then in papers and the 130i is actually really quite devilish, has alot of power and muscle to it... I think this car will do extrememly good in america and just continue BMW's stronghold on the luxury segiment... Hope you Ynaks like because we dont mind it down under

The 1 series isn't as great as it has been hyped up. Because it is rear wheel drive, it has a very small rear seat, and a small trunk.

It actually is coming to the U.S. and Canada. In 2007, so in about fall. I e-mailed BMW Canada and they gave me a very humble responce. I would post it up here but unfortunaly I deleted it!

Yet another person giving BMW props when there not due. The car is ugly and is no match to cars like the A3.

The design may not appeal to everyone (me included), but claiming that it is not match against an A3 is sheer bias.

Various roadtests have praised the 1-series for its handling and road manners. This is an "affordable" luxury mini sports sedan. Ok, maybe not as luxurious as it could be, but the badge makes people think so.

Does the Audi A3 even come with Quattro? I have not seen one here yet, and when I got to Europe, all I see are FWD A3's. Yep, the 1-series is clearly no match for an A3 since every driving enthusiast knows that FWD makes for a true drivers car. :p

I am just teasing, but c'mon, the 1-series has an advantage over a non-Quattro A3. Anyway, I am no fan of the 1-series, just giving credit where credit is due.

The A3 does have quattro, but only with the 3.2 V6 (in the US, at least). Drove it and had a good time. The S-tronic tranny(formerly called DSG) is a gem, so is the 2.0 turbo. The package option prices (Sport & Premium) are decent, but I don't understand the high additional prices for paint & $2.8k for a navi.

If BMW builds a 2 door 1-series coupe I bet that they'd sell like hotcakes in the U.S. C'mon, a small, relatively inexpensive, German coupe...what more can you ask for!

I'd have no concern about being lablelled as having no-self esteem. I love driving and less mass is better. I've owned a dozen BMW's over the years including an M1, three 2002's, and the rest 3-series. I like small quick cars and a six cylinder 1-series fills the bill. I look forward to an M version. Hopefully this will be available when my '06 330i lease is over. Cheers, George

I just rented a 118 diesel from Hertz in Munich today. It was quite fun to drive. I have an 2006 2.5litre 3 series so to compare, the model i rented was a little less luxurious but still great. We got it up to 200kms per hour on the A53, but averaged 160kms on our road trip. We drove a total of 250kms and it cost 20 euros for gas.

It was a perfect size, good speed and all the toys you need. the nav system worked really well too.

I would love to buy one a 1 series when they come to Canada.
