MINI Countryman Prodrive under development - report

If the MINI Countryman JCW hasn't sparked your interest, perhaps the upcoming Prodrive variant will do the trick.

Inspired by the Countryman WRC, which was developed by Prodrive, the street-legal model is expected to feature an aerodynamic body kit, unique alloy wheels and a carbon fiber rear wing.

Power will reportedly come from a turbocharged 1.6-liter petrol engine that has been equipped with an optimized ECU and a sports exhaust system. Sources say the mill will produce 230 hp (172 kW / 233 PS), but a larger turbocharger is under consideration.

Okay...

Sounds like just another hot hatch to me. (The Countryman loses its SUV status when lowered as this will be, since it was always an unnecessarily jacked-up hatchback anyway.) It would compete with the upcoming Impreza WRX STi hatch, since they're the only ones with AWD. But I'm still waiting for that Mazdaspeed2.
