Fisker Promises Fall Short - EPA Rates Karma At Only 32 Miles On Electric And 20 MPG Thereafter

It's been a long and painful year for Fisker Automotive, with deliveries of its 2012 Karma extended-range electric sport sedan repeatedly delayed from the original target of May.

Now, with certification earlier this week from the Environmental Protection Agency that the car complies with emissions standards, Fisker can legally start to deliver its first 39 production cars, which landed at the Port of Newark last weekend.

That means two plug-in "series hybrids," or extended-range electric cars, will be on sale--a type of vehicle not sold in volume in the States for 90 years.

Ouch, that doesn't seem like much mileage to brag about considering the price tag and the competition. I heard the next gen 335 will pack the same great 300h/300torgque AND return similar mileage. I avg 20mpg in mixed driving with my 09 335 and would easily step into another with the same power and even better mileage... I was hoping for success for Fisker, not sure this sounds like it will entice enough buyers (just the rich for now.)

To be fair it is 52 mpg combined officially. But it isn't a hybrid either, it is call an extended range electric.... electric then gas.

No you are a misinformed, typical Fox viewer
First The Bush administration Launched the Loan, Then disapproved it After Criticism from the right, Then Started to support it Before he left office.
and what does the corporate puppet Obama aka Bush term 3 do, Approves it.
"# The Bush team tried to conditionally approve the Solyndra loan just before President Obama took office.
# The company’s backers included private investors who had diverse political interests.
# The loan comprises just 1.3% of DOE’s overall loan portfolio. To date, Solyndra is the only loan that’s known to be troubled."
