COLD & Calculated Or WARM & High Strung? Porsche Cayman R vs. Lotus Evora S

COLD & Calculated Or WARM & High Strung? Porsche Cayman R vs. Lotus Evora S
In the battle of high-performing mid-engine coupes, there are two cars that square up really close. That would be the Lotus Evora S and Porsche Cayman R.

Both are known for their longstanding motorsports history, focus on driving and good looks; however, they also have their differences.

Take, for example, the Evora S, which is supposed to be a more refined Lotus -- there's only so long you can go riding along in what is essentially a body shell. The Porsche, on the other hand, is a hardcore variant that is geared up for the track.

One thing I noticed in recent drives of both products is that they each have distinct personalities.

With the Porsche everything was very methodical and precise. Although it was a blast it and had me "hooked," it just doesn't lash out at your heart.

The Evora S is a completely different story. While its interior has a somewhat kit-car-like feel to certain components, and had some questionable elements, the car is like a living, breathing being.

Though I'll refrain from giving away the entire details -- stay tuned -- we're a little curious:

Would you rather have the COLD and precise Porsche OR the WARM and unpredictable Evora S?

2 very different car personalities. Most people would pick the porsche because it ticks more boxes - because most people wouldn't miss the extra feel and handling of the lotus.

I think it's funny, because at the traffic lights I think both owners would look "down" on the other.

There is no wrong choice. They are both great cars.

Cayman R for me. Lotus needs to refine its interior to compete, adopt a better sounding engine, and I'm not a complete fan of it's rear-end. Porsche has been refined the Cayman a great deal since it's release in 2006 (?), and it shows. Compared to the Cayman, though, Evoras are a rare breed and I guess that counts as a plus.

People always use refinement as an end all when it comes to Porsches if you want a luxury car buy one because as far as luxury levels of refinement the overly cheap plastic Porsche certainly falls short and in general lacks refinement. Its a sports car I think a car being somewhat crude isnt a bad thing. These 2 cars are just so different in all honesty I would probably go with the evora it just seems more special its not a car you would see everyday on the way to work, and at least in this picture all those extra addons make the Porsche look a bit speed racerish.

My opinion: Lotus cars have allways been cool, but focus on low weight and marginal power. Porsche cars(not including 911's) have allways had good handling, but quality/resale value issues. I will not own either in the future.

I think the Evora is better looking and more exclusive--that doesn't matter to those of us who seriously just want the best car, which is the Cayman.
I haven't driven the Evora, but the reviews haven't been as favorable as I expected, since the Elise was such a winner.
The Cayman continues to garner higher praise in almost any road test. It's the perfect daily driver/weekend track car.
