RENDERED SPECULATION: What Will The Next-Gen 3-Series Coupe NEED To Make It GREAT?
If you missed it over the weekend, we ran a story featuring fresh spy photographs of the BMW 3-Series or 4-Series. We say "or" because speculation -- once again -- has said that this time the 4'er moniker will stick.

We're not so sure about that.

Given that the coupe is in its early stages of development, it has been spotted wearing more camouflage than a soldier prepared for battle. However, with the sedan's photos out and about, this left the chance for Theophilus Chin the opportunity to render what a 4-Series coupe would theoretically look like.

More than likely it won't look exactly like the sedan because as we've seen with the E92 and E46, BMW likes to differentiate the vehicles from each other.

Not going to happen, and you've wasted everyone's time by saying it!

name ONE car manufacturer who does that. not ferrari, not lamborghini, etc. why would anyone destroy sales volume by doing that? good thing you don't run a business.

huh? like the G37? you mean the very good car that's always faulted for not being up to par with bmw ride and handling? not to mention engine.

"tune the car to ride and drive like a true sportscar the way G37 is."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! (catching breath) HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I assume you're being sarcastic. If you're not I heartily recommend you immediately go drive a Porsche (and to make it easier on you, compared to a G37 it wouldn't really matter which Porsche, pretty much any Porsche will do).

Offer a smaller, more capable package than the current 3-Series coupe
Better design and appearance than the butch 1 series coupe
Make it somewhat affordable, needs to be within $10k of the G37S
Wide range of engine choices so posers and hardcore weekenders will be happy
Make a 7-spd manual available, though only 1% will buy it
Have the four cylinder version "start" under $32,000 w/ 30+mpg - posermobile

why would any business give away money by LOWERING product prices when they already outsell competitive products that's cost many thousands less?

MorePowerMorePower - 10/26/2011 2:39:05 AM

You would lower costs to gain more customers. More customers = higher sales volume = lower per unit cost = increased profit!

At the very least, a lower priced 3 series would mean fewer sales for the competition. If lowering the price by $5000 increases sales by 20,000 - 50,000 units, then you are taking money away from the competition. Basic business management and economics!

lol the G37 is a true sports car? Since when was a subpar overweight and relatively slow given its power pseudo luxury car a true sports car. It really needs to step up to the 3 series level before in quality, refinement, and performance it really is just a poseurs car loud exhaust and all. Its $10-$15,000 more than a G and yet the G still cant keep pace with its sales....

unfortunately, that's far too expensive of a design. go for the $120,000 CL550.

keep the hydraulic steering set-up of the current cars and avoid the electric power steering.
