Toyota FT-86 To Be Testosterone Challenged Compared To Subaru BR-Z Variant

The new Subaru BRZ coupé will have the lowest centre of gravity of any production car when it goes on sale next summer, according to the manufacturer.

The BRZ’s rear-wheel-drive configuration has meant that Subaru's compact 2.0-litre Boxer engine can be mounted even lower in the chassis than would normally be permissible in the manufacturer's conventional four-wheel-drive layout.

Despite being co-developed with Toyota, the vast majority of the engineering work has been undertaken by Subaru; although the company has confirmed that the BRZ's flat-four unit will incorporate a Toyota direct fuel-injection system.

Well at least its only limiting in HP but there should be tuners out there who, I'm sure, can unleash the beast. Who didn't see this one coming with Toyota though? Hopefully they can keep the styling as Toyota is notorious for making styles that are bland, to say the least.

Historically the Toyota ECU has not been cracked by the tuner scene. When you seen a tuner Toyota it has an older engine or a different non stock ECU in it which makes it not street legal.

A major difference in approach from the Europeans which access to the ECU is more open.

Hmmm has the 200hp for the Toyota version ever been confirmed? That's a 54hp gain over the existing 2.0L boxer engine which was just recently released. Surely just upgrading to direct injection can't yield such a massive gain.

I haven't read that the only thing changing is direct injection.....have you?

I'm not the one making the statement that questions the HP.

I'm questioning the hp stated by people who don't actually know the hp, I'm not questioning factory specs ;)

Toyota shouldnt have partnered up if it means sacrifice of HP compared to the competition from the borrowed engine. TRD where r u.
