If ALL Cars Looked As Good As THIS, Would Buyers Stray From PREMIUM Products?
Over the past 24 months we've seen some serious shifts in the automobile industry.

There's been a major macroeconomic event and the automakers are not selling as much product as they used to. In addition, consumers have shifted their purchases for better value and increased efficiency. Notice the relationship between rising gas prices and demand for fuel efficient cars?

On top of all this there has been a desire more fashionable cars. Sleek and sexy is in while goofy and bulbous is out.

Take, for example, the Hyundai Sonata, which is the brand''s cash cow. It has been so successful merely because it incorporates all three of these elements: value, style and fuel efficiency.

Now there's this concept from Mazda that's said to be a preview of the Mazda6. That got me thinking:

If ALL cars look as good as this concept, would buyers stray from the upper echelon of products?

You have to keep in mind, we're in the "new" economy.

"If ALL Cars Looked As Good As THIS, Would Buyers Stray From PREMIUM Products?"

Let's see if actual production version looks this awesome and then I'll revisit the question.

Agreed, I bet the last concept to preview the current 6 series looked much better than the current version also.

Very audi-inspired. But I think even better looking than any recent concepts I've seen. Unfortunately, it's rare for any concept to make it into production looking like what they were originally.

how does this in the slightest look anything like an Audi, im assuming your wearing beer goggles if anything it looks like a Jag. By any case its a good looking car if the production model actually look likes this im sure it will draw some premium brand customers as long as it has an interior to match which Mazda though its been awhile can put together a luxury car interior good job Mazda.

Actually all the aspiring makers need to do is sit back and watch the leaders shoot themselves in the foot with ridiculous designs.

No...a super looking Mazda would steal sales from Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc. Badge buyers will stick to their premium brands.

It's not that good looking to begin with.

It's not just about looks, quality is important as well.

Looks is one thing , overall product quality is another. As good as Sonata might look today doesn't mean it will look good tomorrow, quality is by far more important and this is where premium products have an edge.

No, I wouldn't want the steering wheel on the passenger side - my wife already has too much say in the way I drive...

Production All new CX7 is very close to the concept so it is possible new Mazda 6 will be very close design wise to this concept. That would make new Mazda 6 the best looking car not only in it's class but also compare to some premium luxury cars. Good job Mazda.
