200 hp, a little more than I expected but a reasonable amount from the 2 liter boxer which has never been known as a high rev powerplant.

If the BRZ pushes 300 then you have a nice little package.

An impressive 197hp, more then I expected, but what is this 2668lb and 2712lb thing? Wasn't this supposed to be UNDER 2500? Has there been any word if the JDM spec version will be the same as the US spec?

I think that it's funny that the final weight ended up being about half way between my 2900lb estimate, and most 2500lb estimates.

Any word on if it's turbocharged ? What's the redline ?

about 550 lbs lighter than a GTI !

How can a naturally aspirated 2.0 produce 200hp ?

It produces 197hp at 7000rpm.

"Modestly Powered"

- Didn't I say this months ago? 200hp @ 2706lbs is more pounds per HP than the Nissan 370 or the Hyundai Genesis? Scion Coupe replacement anyone?

Toyota could have made this car into something. But instead they did something that I thought was impossible, they built a sporty appliance. LOL!! Will Toyota ever build a car that can compete with the Hyundai Genesis coupe or the Nissan 370z. The FT-86 aint it. Not even close. FAIL!!!!!!!

What does sales have to do with anything? Buick is outselling Lexus. Does that mean that Buick is better than Lexus?

It's only a fail if they were aiming at those cars....they weren't. They built exactly what they wanted to. I'm sorry if that isn't what you're looking for.

So this car competes against the Civic Si? That explains plenty.

I'd like to think this competes w/ Miata, though the latter has less power.
But, I think this will force Mazda to pour in more power on Miata, and that'll be a good thing!

200 hp is absolutely nothing. Nowadays a sport car with 300hps, yet 200?

Kinda wish the redline is 7500 - 8000 rpm.

300 hp is too much for 1200 kg car. Handling Handling !!!!!!!
300 is ok for your hevy mustang and other hevy cars.
1st drive, then u can say is this car fail or not.

the horsepower is adequate. but torque at 151--and waaaaay up at 6600rpm is pathetic.
