Infiniti is not abandoning Japan. It's simply moving some production there. Certain Infiniti models will continue to be made in Japan.

Moving it's global HQ to China is probably an effort to establish its base in the world's biggest rising global market.

All of them. Currently Infiniti has no manufacturing plants outside of Japan... Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus do. In order to meet their goal of half a million units globally Infiniti has to increase capacity. China would be among their first production plants outside of Japan.

Not right now they don't. The Armada-based QX56 used to be built in Mississippi but the new Patrol-based QX is built in Japan. Next year's JX will be built here but that's about it.

Why would they want to build in Japan? They don't even sell Infiniti in Japan, or did they start?

Infiniti JX will be built in Smyrna. Last Gen QX was built in Canton.

And the production version of the Etherea Concept may be build in the UK. But as of right now, no Infiniti is built outside of Japan.

Nissan is putting the Infiniti brand in Hong Kong. 1911 is correct as Infiniti does not build cars so they have no plants, Nissan does. This is Commodity Luxury.

I don't think this is anything suspicious. You're going to be seeing many companies make China home base.

Who cares? Infinity is lumbering in mediocrity. The move to China will only solidify the mediocrity. I mean, which car company that's headquartered in China, makes a vehicle that anyone here would actually purchase (if you could)? A move to Italy or Germany (or even the U.S.A) would seem better for vehicle design and development.

That's one of the silliest things I've read here today.
