The US Army should immediately buy up all pre-1993 Mercs and deploy them for military service. This is truly amazing footage.

it was a really entertaining video but i dont see how blowing up a old merc proofs its durability on the road unless ur like 007 or tom cruis...haha

Great footage. I had a 1993 400E and now drive a 2006 E350, and the older car's build quality was definitely in another league compared to my current car.

What a waste. Why did they do that to that car? It was cheap. So? Some hardworking person out there could have fullfilled his dream and gotten an affordable Mercedes.

I have to disagree on comments though about current MB's. They're still well made. In fact, probably better than the Merc's from the mid 1990s, which really took a dive. I've driven the A-Class, new C-Class and a few E-Classes and they've all made a solid impression on me. I know most people don't give the C-Class a second chance, since the current C-Class before the facelift was pretty bad in my experience, but the facelift did wonders. I kid you not, the newer MB's to me are feeling like tanks again. And with Schrempp gone, I can see why.

BMW530i....there is no way that current generation MB are as solid as the mid 90's.

No.Chance.At.All. "IF" it made it passed the three foot test, there is no way that it would pass the being-run-over test.
