Volkswagen CC Gets A Facelift But Is It Really A CLS Rival?
This is the new Volkswagen Passat CC. The four-door coupe version of VW’s regular Mondeo-sized family car, has been updated with a new look and even more safety equipment, making it more of a cut-price Mercedes CLS rival than ever.

Making its debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show later this month, sales will start in the UK in January 2012 and although prices haven’t been confirmed, expect the range to start at around £24,000.

At the front, the updated Passat CC gets bi-xenon headlights complete with LED daytime running lights, while there’s also a more upmarket chrome grille and a smarter lower bumper.

No. It's a Hyundai Sonata rival. That's not an insult.

I like the updated front end, not sure if/how the rear changed... still not the greatest motor choices from VW so not likely to get me to drive one

who (outside of VW, and even that's doubtful) honestly considered a $30k CC a competitor to a $70k CLS in the first place?

The CC is really nice and looks great on the road...the sad engines are what kills the car. More power may bump it's competition level, but prob not against Merc.

Of course not. However because it has a general shape similar to the CLS and a reasonably luxurious interior it caters to people that could never afford a CLS in the 1st place but want a luxury 4dr coupe.

Wonder if they fixed the suspension. That car rolled very uncomfortably in the corners. The 2.0 Turbo with the DSG trannie drivetrain is a pure joy.

Must be the US spec suspension.

My little brother has 2.0 TDI CC with the 18" Interlagos alloys and it does not roll in corners.

Interior is Fabulous for the price range, little details like the electronic parking brake switching on when you come to a complete stop and unlatch the driver"s seatbelt is GENIUS.

P.S. He did not Lease the CC because he thought it looked like a CL Competitor {No Sensible Human Does}

He Leased that particular vehicle because it gave him 5-Series Ride, Interior Quality and Equipment Levels for slightly below 3-Series costs.

Yes it does not have the Magic Handling of the 3-Series but as a Family Man he had more important priorities.

And i can attest after driving it that that vehicle is Fantastically well built.

Its a great alternative for those who can't afford a CLS. It drives and handles better than anything in its size class that America or Japan has to offer, much nicer made interior and much more fun to drive, and the VR6 engine is very fast. Much better driving than any other front wheel drive sedan I have ever driven.

LOL, that's like saying that the VW Karmann Ghia was a competitor of the Porshe 911
