Land Rover Considering Performance Brand

Land Rover Considering Performance Brand
Land Rover is considering introducing a new range of performance models. Global Brand Director John Edwards told Inside Line that, "there's definitely room for performance products," within the Land Rover portfolio and that the company was, "certainly considering" the possibility of a sporting sub-brand.

Supercharged variants of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport already exist and a high-performance version of the Evoque is believed to be in development, based on the Si4. Combining these models under a common nomenclature would give Range Rover the equivalent of the "R" sub-brand employed by sister company Jaguar.

In other words, they want the Evoque's high performance model to be in the same camp as the RR and RRS Supercharged, but since it won't use a supercharged powerplant, they need a new name to give all 3 of them. Whatever.

I guess high performance no longer means off road ability for Land Rover. If you want to go fast, get a car.

LR stopped being off road worthy once they got rid of the solid axles, they are all nice sports car/suvs already, so no news here, lol

what is your off road car of choice? I imagine mine can keep up every step of the way...but I think you already know that and just hate on LR because so many yuppies drive them.

M35MT, I diss any company that tries to sell apples when they have oranges, this includes the new Jeep Grand Cherokee, it is also a street princess, even one of the big shots at Jeep made a pointed statement about what I am getting at, I should dig for it, it was amusing, I do like LR and would consider one if I could afford the maintenance, and I would never buy one if my intentions were to go off road, I would buy a LR as a sporty family SUV, I have been known to hang out with every group of people including rich yuppies, lol You can't compare the old solid axle defender with one of these new suv's, although the Defender lacked selectable lockers to make it off road worthy, but that could be added easily, why can't LR make something like the old Defender with solid axles and loads of wheel travel and larger tires that aren't low profile?
