Worth More Dead Than Alive? GM Will Block Sales Of Saab To Chinese

General Motors Co. said Monday it will not support the sale of its former Swedish car unit Saab Automobile AB to two Chinese automakers.

The move may mean the end of the struggling Swedish luxury automaker.

"Although General Motors is open to the continued supply of powertrains and other components to Saab under appropriate terms and conditions, GM will not agree to the continuation of the existing technology licenses or the continued supply of 9-4X vehicles to Saab following the proposed change in ownership as it would not be in the best interests of GM shareholders," GM spokesman Jim Cain said.

Is it really GM's right to give their opinion on this? Aren't they the ones responsible for the mess Saab is in? GM ruined a pretty cool automaker, diluted the brand, tossed them out to save themselves, and now says they don't approve of this union...come on GM, if you don't approve of it then toss them some money to help them survive. GM should be ashamed of what they did, that's just my opinion.

GM is a joke. They recently sent out a memo to all their dealerships instructing them to refuse service on SAAB vehicles, even those covered by GM extended warranty plans. As more SAAB dealerships continue to close, this leaves SAAB owners with few, if any, options. Way to stand behind your product, GM! Of course, Obama's bailout of GM proved, it's not about the customers, it's about the union members who contribute to his campaign.

As much as I'd like formerly great American brands to thrive, I will never buy a GM product.

I'm no fan of China but GM is cutting its nose off to spite its face. Do they really believe the Chinese government isn't going to retaliate
in some manner, some time some how ? Gm is a joke. Shame on you GM...shame on you.
