STUD OR DUD? Mercedes-Benz Plans To Tackle BMW X6 With A Sleeker MLC

Mercedes is going chasing after the cult success of the BMW X6 with a new, sleeker (read less practical) M-class. Dubbed informally the MLC, we'll see this new sporty SUV in 2014.

Project C166 - the codename for the 2014 Merc MLC - was approved at a Daimler board meeting in July 2011. This is no mere fantasy: it has been assigned to the Alabama plant in the US with a firm start-of-production date of March 2014.

better looking from what I can see than the X6, not a fan of the back end of the X6

This is a CLS-based photoshop. How can this design be judged when it doesn't exist in the first place? This is an artist rendering of what they think this MLC will look like.

Sadly, I think the Venza is Toyota's best looking vehicle.

Looks very nice and if this were the actual design they'd have a winner IMHO.

"Initially ridiculed because of its compromised packaging and villainous stance, the widebody lowrider BMW SUV turned out to be a surprise smash hit which still sells between 40,000 and 60,000 units a year"

I love it!!!! The X6(M) was only a surprise to the naysayers!! The wedge shaped body and Porsche like canopy was a hit long before the crowd got on board! It took a certain vision to appreciate that!

Looks kind of like a Dodge Nitro to me... I guess I'm not blinded by the Chickenfoot on the front end
