Hyundai To Introduce An Elantra Coupe At The 2012 Chicago Auto Show -- Who's In A Heap Of TROUBLE Now?
Well, I didn't see that coming. No, seriously.

Although Hyundai's sister company -- Kia -- makes the Forte Koup, Hyundai has decided to make the Elantra more than just an economical four-door sedan. Now, it will have a sidekick in form of a two-door coupe variant.

In addition, Hyundai has mentioned there will be a sportier SE version -- we imagine it will take some cues from the Forte Koup in terms of additions.

Considering our love for the Elantra this comes as good news; however, you have to start wondering who's going to be a little scared.

Two companies and two cars come to mind:

1) Honda - Civic

2) Scion - tC

Honda's all-new Civic is really not all that grand, at least that's the general consensus from reviewers. Hell, when Consumer Reports -- one of your biggest advocates -- pans the car you know you've got problems. On top of the Japanese earthquake, Thailand's flooding problem, and the CFO admitting it has its work cut out for itself, I can't see the Civic doing to well in this battle.

Scion is a whole other story. While the tC is fresh off an update, which brought some great additions -- supportive seats, awesome three-spoke steering wheel -- it also was much more of the same. The tC's interior, aside from the aforementioned, is not a lovely place to be.

With that said, do YOU think the Elantra Coupe will have enough juice to down its competitors?

The sedan has already stole most of the thunder, and the coupe will only win over a few that wanted the sedan but did not get one I dont see this thing selling more 115k thousand units a year

I like the idea of the 5 door, practical and sporty all in one.

If they pop a turbo 4 in it, it might do some damage to the Civic or tC, otherwise it will just be one more econbox in a sea of cheap asian cars.

I really enjoy the rants from the Hyundai bashing usual suspects. Wrong answers dunces. Obviously, Honda's Civic two door coupe will be the hurt.

Wake up already, the market has changed and it ain't the 1990s anymore.

I'm more interested in the redesigned Kia Forte series for next year.
