LOS ANGELES AUTO SHOW: All-New BMW M5 Makes A Matte Debut
For 2012 BMW is releasing what is likely its most anticipated product for sometime. No, it isn't the all-new 3-Series.
The car everyone was following during testing around the 'Ring and made plenty of headlines, was the BMW M5.
Now at the Los Angeles Auto Show making its North American debut, BMW has brought a matte painted product to the city of angels. Considering the car culture in LA, this is likely an appropriate decision.
To me, it seems that a matte silver paint job looks good on any BMW but it looks particularly aggressive on the Ms thanks to their styling treatments.
What say you, Spies?

I use to love M5's but once I read that the engine sound heared in the cabin is a digital recording of an M5 on a dyno stored within the computer tied to the accelerator position played over the sound system I lost complete interest in this car. Its phony, not natural. Isn't anything sacred. BMW has drifted from making pure, raw unadulterated performance cars to making a video game recording. Sad. Very sad.

Yeah, I read that the fake engine sounds are because BMW is concerned about Euro nanny sound level regulations. So the car is quiet on the outside but has fake engine sound on the inside. God forbid anyone hears an engine revving any more when they walk around town.

PUGPROUD: I think you are right in the sound part, however this is the most beautiful m5 in years , the profile and rear looks great to me. And finaly that have an engnine that can face any AMG in any respect. the front still ugly but nothing is perfect. Sure there is a way turn of the fake sound and for sure, a lot will turn it off or will remove a fuse to deactivate it or whatever method they implemt to avoid that noise. There was a time when powerfull engines (Mercedes) were quiet now everybody wants to make them noise. A quiet powerful engine is like Dr Jeykel and Mr. Hide, perfect match.

I did read the comments here :) I could have laughed at bmw on someone elses post for fake engine sounds, but then that would have required a second post on yours laughing at lexus for doing it as well. lol

The laugh is over the fact that these "premium" marquees had to resort to electronic sounds since they couldn't get the vehicles acoustics right.
My confidence over radiation comes from researching the effects of certain critical gray levels. And in those researches finding out that mass panic is caused when a detectable amount of radiation is sensed with expensive equipment. For example, when scientists were able to measure a minute increase in background radiation thousands of miles away from chernobyl, millions of people thought they were going to die! This has happened countless times throughout history. Radiation is scary because there is no way you can physically sense it until it's too late!
