KBB Places Toyota And Lexus Back On Top In Latest Resale Awards
The Toyota and Lexus brands for the 2012 model year are projected to retain the highest values over the next five years, according to Kelley Blue Book, a website dedicated to new and used car information.

Toyota Motor Corp.'s two brands were named winners of the KBB annual Best Resale Value Awards given at a ceremony Tuesday night, the eve of the first press day at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Last year's brand winners were Subaru and BMW.

KBB gathers data based on auction transactions to create its forecast. Low-volume and high-end luxury makes are not included.

The awards help consumers with purchase decisions by providing a sense of which vehicles will depreciate less than others.

this is all because of the tsunami. as all the toylex fanboys will tell you...there's just no inventory for most of this year! supply is so short and demand so high that it's pushing up prices!

are you kidding? They would never admit that! That's indirectly admitting that the product line isn't good enough to have high resale. A fanboy will say something about reliability and design or maybe even talk about how all the recalls fixed everything that could possibly be wrong with the cars thus making them more reliable! lol

That's why every customer with a bit of brain will buy a Toyota and for the rest there's Hyundai....

- What if I wanted a Sporty Coupe? Which Toyota would you suggest over the Hyundai Genesis Coupe?

Thought so. LOL!!!

All people can do is deboost because they know that Toyota's lineup is seriously lacking.

Well LexSucks at this moment Toyota has nothing to compete against Genesis Coupe, but it won't be long. And whoever looks at Genesis should consider a BMW 3 Series but then you need to have some brain to make that choice.......

The Genesis Coupe doesn't compete against the BMW 3 Series. C'mon man lets get real. The 335 cost much more than the Genesis. The BMW 328 has a price closer to the Genesis, but the Genesis detroys the 328 in power and perfomance (probably handles better too).

What exactly is your gripe against Hyundai? They seem to be able to compete in areas where Toyota isn't competitive. If anything you should have a gripe with Toyota for failing to deliver anything that can be considered a driver's car. You say that Toyota will have a car to compete with the Genesis, "it won’t be long" is what you said. My question is why don’t they already have one? Why did Toyota let Hyundai beat them out?

Toyota and Hyundai are on about the same level with the nod going to Hyundai because they have vehicles that perform and look better than the boring Toyota appliances. Toyota's lineup reminds me of Hyundai's lineup from 10 years ago (lifeless, boring, cheap, non-performing economy cars).

LexSucks i've got to give you this one , they're able to compete in areas where Toyota isn't.That's because Toyota has no model to offer in that area , why they don't have one ? maybe their priorities are somewhere else, where they succeed. Why did they let Hyundai beat them? well in whitch area, maybe design cause all other areas they're far behind like resale value, long term reliability, technology (i see you coming ),quality of components, security.

So 1911, you're a die hard Toyota fanboy. What say you? Did the jump in resale happen because of design? or did it happen due to "supply" issues?

Supply issue???

There are more Toyotas on the road than any other brand! And, no, I'm not making a statement of durability. Just one based on them being the #1 manufacturer in the world. Even if GM regains the title, that is devided between several brands.
Toyota has always had high resale value. Value being the key word!!!
One with 100k still has a lot of life left! And yes, that is a durability statement!!! because they will last much more than that!
The supply issue affected all brands! And all of them gained a value increase because there were less available. Toyota is the highest because they are long lasting vehicles. Doesn't mean you have to like them Joe!!!

Long lasting? Myth. Toyotas don't last any longer than any other car. The old Toyotas look as run down and junky as any other old car. And besides, longevity doesn't make Toyotas any less of a boring appliance.

Toyotas are boring lifeless cars desinged for the masses who don't care about cars. What exactly is there to like about that?

Thank you toyfan for proving my point :) toyota fanboys won't admit that supply issues are helping the resale lol. But they will be very quick to point out that they are the "sole" reason for the loss in sales lol.

long lasting? that's funny. go try and find a 1989 LS...you'll find plenty of 1989 560SELs rolling around. try the same thing with a 1999....once again lots lots of s-classes but few LSs...

You didn't read what I said Joe!
I said that the lack of inventories due to lack of supplies have helped ALL brands hold higher values! But that's not why Toyota is ranked the highest!
And I made no mention as to their sales 'decline.' However, it has been readily appearant that the lack of inventories at Toyota dealers did hurt their sales figures while the time still selling a lot of them! They have remained the #1 'brand' in the U.S.
And again, you didn't read what I said. Their lack of supply is only relative to themselves as far as sales figures go, not value!
