LOS ANGELES AUTO SHOW: Is Lexus' All-New GS' Interior A STUD When Optioned With The RIGHT Combo?
When Lexus showed off it's all-new Lexus GS concept at the 2011 New York Auto Show, it was somewhat clear that its interior would have a much more German look to it. That's because I got up close and personal with the GS Concept -- and peered inside it's limo-tinted windows -- I could notice the cabin's ambiance.

With that said, when it debuted I wasn't surprised to see its new look; however, I was disappointed that its interior had a German coldness to it.

That was until today's appearance at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, where 001's photos have swayed me in another direction. Now sporting a tan interior with black accents and a matte wood, the GS' interior has become a much cozier place to be.

At least that's MY perspective.

What say you, Spies? Is the all-new GS' interior looking STUDly or DUDly with the NEWly seen combination?

Most definitely but, on the other hand, that statement applies to most of its competitors as well.

Looks stunning. Yet to see and experience the interior of new GS in person but the design IMO is the best in it's class. Good mix of wood, metal and leather. Looks sporty and luxurious at the same time also love the huge screen.

This along with the AUDI A6's interior will be "Best in Class". Hopefully, this will translate into sales for the model. If I were in the market for a mid priced sedan, this and the new A6 would be on top of my list. Both look really nice.

It may look good at first impression but when you look closely at the details, the switches are cheap looking. Doesn't even compare to the workmanship of the A6.

i hate that goldish tinge that lexus puts on its silver plastic parts in the first car

I sat in the new GS in the dubai motorshow and wasn't quite impressed with the design of the interior. It felt like it didn't match the sporty look of the car that Lexus is trying to achieve. Materials wise though, the interior was good. Overall, not a bad effort.

It is a bad interpretation of an Audi interior with cheap switchgear.

Hmmm...
-plastic dash... check!
-switches from an economy car... check!
-Lexus's signature orange coloured wood trim that still lacks visual depth in the grain... check!
-Biggest dash mounted monitor in its class... check!

Typical Lexus :)

Were those seat inserts made out of band aids?

If you knew anything, you would know that the wood is not the usual burl walnut but a bamboo choice for the hybrid model. So no, this is not the "usual" wood they put in lexus models

The "tan" is far too dark - looks brown. Not a fan.

A light grey/ivory leather with the aluminum trim and black dash would look sporty and blend nicely. Just my opinion.

The proportions are strange the center stack looks too wide

Best navigation you can get.

Not too sure why, but the interior of the first vehicle (tan one) kind of looks dated, for a new car. Maybe its the color combination with the black plastic parts. Not sure... Not a big fan of the first interior. I think the second one is much better, though I would not say I am impressed.

I think it could be the fact that its way too many color hues and too many different type of materials used.

It`s made for the North American taste, so I can`t blame those who find this atractive. For us South americans, this cannot hold a candle against it`s German rivals, it doesn`t even sell here. It`s utterly disgusting inside and out in my humble opinion.

I feel that the new GS has the ugliest and most unbalanced interior in its class. There is nothing elegant or classy about it. The cabin design screams 'sport' and should be found in an LF-A but not in a GS. Remember the 3GS? It had a simple and elegant interior. That was very nice. This is not.

Then again Lexus in my opinion has never been good at designing beautiful interiors. Most Lexus interiors are to busy, to complex and to unbalanced overall. I never felt quite at home in a Lexus except the 3GS whose interior was the best interior Lexus has ever designed. Simple, classy and elegant. That's all it needs to make a positive impression.

The cabin design of the 4GS is absolutely horrible. To me it seems the designers didn't know what to do...

doesn't matter the old ones didn't sell so they are trying something new instead of the same old boring. I like it and I bet it looks even better in person. At least they tried something instead of being at the bottom of the barrel in the mid-size class.

No other car can match its quality. When I sit in a Lexus all I want to do is admire the craftsman ship that has been put there, but to feel sportiness that's where Lexus just dies, and just from the look of this new GS350, it just doesn't have any sportiness look, maybe I'll change my mind when I drive it? will only know when I do.

Obviously you havent been in a new generation lexus because even though there are no icons on the window switches, there are lighted stripes on the switches themselves and also underneath them

see here on the RX

They copied the old BMW 5 series look. Thats why the BMW new interior is far superior.
I dont know why people gawk over the Audi interior. I drove a new A6 the other day and thought it felt cheep and busy. The plastic rubber dash wasnt even well seamed. I hated it and the MMI.
The new BMW interiors are definitely better than any brand and makes more sense. The 8 programmable memory keys, like shortcuts on a desktop for immediate access.
Lexus has the worst nav ive ever used as well. i hope theyve improved it.

"They copied the old BMW 5 series look. Thats why the BMW new interior is far superior."

"still haven't learned their lesson in recycling the parts of the car people that cross shop high end sports sedans care about: chassis and engine and both are existing, stale and carried over, and if this is going to be priced similar to the competition then it's really going to be a slaughter in sales, it's not offering anything new, groundbreaking or innovative, just recycled ideas from other manufacturers who did it first."

Stop lying you know this is ALLLL NEW NEVER BEFORE SEEN FEATURES AND LOOKS BEFORE. Ain't that right HUU76?

Hey Huu76 you reading this? Explain why a $50,000 Audi felt cheap and busy. Since Koreans are the cheapest cars on earth (even cheaper than LaDA) I guess you would know right?

Too bad they won't offer televisions like Hyundai's genesis. You know without those deals from Hyundai the Genesis would too fall off the cliff. Ain't that right huu76?

I got to check out the F-sport interior today at the LA auto show and will say that it felt much more expensive and had better materials than either the A6 or 528 parked in the adjacent booths. I've not been a fan of anything Lexus and have had only German cars for the last 20 years but this car could sway me. I definitely will drive one when I can.
