Vw to build the Beetle R

Sources said that a concept version of the VW Beetle R that was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show is almost certain to go into production. This concept has features like broader bumpers, and wheel arches, air intakes that would cool the engine and brakes, racing seats and four exhaust pipes.

So now, in Europe, VW will have FOUR competing pocket rockets: the GTI, the Jetta GLI, the Scirocco R, and now the Beetle R. Seems like a dumb idea. Even here, where there's no Scirocco, it's quite redundant.

I assume you are referring to the Sirocco R ?

If so i am not surprised, why would anyone buy a FWD Sirocco when you could get an AWD Golf with same Hp, Better Traction, Better Interior Space and at a LOWER PRICE ?
