If You Had To - Would YOU Give Up Your CAR Or The Internet First?

If You Had To - Would YOU Give Up Your CAR Or The Internet First?
Although you may write this off as a silly question, it actually is a very good one. Hear me out.

Long story short, as technology has begun gripping us at just about every touch point in our lives, plenty of things have changed. And when you speak to today's youth, you'll notice there has been an attitude shift when it comes to automobiles and technology.

Back when I was young, everyone was SO excited to get behind the wheel and drive. Now, that's not the case. Not only have I spoken to teenagers who could care less, statistics have also made the same conclusions. That's because with insurance priced so high and gas prices fluctuating, it's just not THAT practical anymore.

With that said, folks have turned to the latest technology. It's cooler to have the latest MacBook, iPhone, Droid, or whatever you can think of.

So assuming you had to cough up one or the other, we're a little curious: WHICH is going to go away first?

Your car or the internet?

I'm giving up my car right now - I'm moving closer to the city centre and neither need nor can afford to run a car. I don't drive to work, parking is horrifically expensive and the public transport is very good. I've signed up to Zip Car should I need a car occassionally. I'm young and live in London, insurance alone is about 2 pounds per day, never mind car tax, MOT, servicing, fuel (at 6 pounds per gallon)...

I'm still going to be in the suburbs, but even so, I agree with you. Where I'm moving to I'll still have the Underground, and Overground rail links, and a ton of buses. Public transport is just pretty damn good here!

I am as crazy a car enthusiast as there is (subscribe to a dozen car magazines, have owned fast cars, been to three high performance
driving schools, etc etc) but if you had to choose between emailing close friends around the world each day versus a great ride on Sundays
on a great road, people come first last and always !

The car would go. I have a scooter so I can make due with transportation. As for the internet, I'm back at school right now and all my classes are online so I can't give that up for a moment.

probably my car, but I would have to move first. you cant possibly run your business without the internet these days.
If I gave up the internet and my business started failing, then I would have to sell my car!
