What Were The REAL Turkeys Of 2011? Biggest Flops And Fails Of The Year?

What Were The REAL Turkeys Of 2011? Biggest Flops And Fails Of The Year?
To paraphrase the late George Carlin:

"Kids are like any other group of people, a few winners, a whole lot of losers."

I guess we can switch that to something more along the lines of...

"Cars are like any other product, a few winners, a whole lot of losers."

Keeping that in mind, and in honor of my favorite holiday -- Thanksgiving -- we're here to ask YOU about the vehicles YOU thought were the biggest turkeys of 2011.

We'll be sure to announce which vehicles let us down in 2011 at another point in time; however, until then we figured we'd provide you a list of stand out products -- good AND bad -- down below and let YOU choose which vehicles did not meet YOUR expectations.

With that said, get picking and let us know in the comments down below!

And the nominees are...

2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon

2011 BMW 5-Series

2011 Buick Regal

2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe

2011 Chevrolet Volt

2011 Chrysler 200

Cadillac CTS Coupe...

Lots of promise after seeing the concept. But few dreams were realized once the production car hit.

Exterior has more crease than soul. Interior belies the brand.

The new Corolla - well, technically speaking, the new Civic- is way too bland.

Sales do not equal better.

Just ask General Motors and Toyota.

Let me tell you from experience the 200 is garbage compared to the Jetta. Like someone posted earlier, lipstick on a pig. Matter of fact I can't think of any car I would buy the 200 over. the interior is crap. they threw a decently nice made dashboard but forgot about everything else. A Kia Optima is far more luxurious and comes far better equipped. Unless you get the limited model, the rest are just basic. Regular manual one zone climate control, 4 speed auto and power mirrors and locks. Thats it, nothing else. The stereo is crap. handles like crap too. Epic Fail. The only thing I ikes about it was the headlights at night.

5 series? Are you high? How did that make the list? 5GT maybe.

@lewis

Long story short, the car has been criticized from day one as missing the true jist of what BMW is about.

Oh yeah, and the Audi A6 -- granted, it's a 2012 MY product -- has been placing higher in many reviews.

Nissan Leaf, the first economical Electric car on the market is now being outsold by a $40k hybrid.

the new 5 series looks sick, but bmw messed up the handling, they really numbed it

BMW didn't mess up the handling of the F10 5er at all. They created the car for the people it was truly intended for and those are not you KIDS.

The fact of the matter is that most 5 series buyers want a comfortable limousine. The E60 5er was getting its butt kicked in that regard so BMW had to make the F10 competitive, especially against the well-balanced E class (comfortable and yet still a competent handler).

If you want a BMW that handles then go for the lighter 1 series and the 3 series. Those cars are much better drivers cars than a 5er ever will be.

+1 Willis.

While reviews have said the steering is not a sharp as the E60,it’s still stands out among the competition, and its handling is a step forward compared to the e60.

I see quite a view Fiat 500s in here in Chicago...they seem to be selling

I have to take a look into the figures but from what I've seen, Fiat's well off the mark from their initial projections of 50k units.

I have heard 21k units and 16k units have sold YTD -- not good.

For Volvo, the S60 is the complete opposite of a 'flop'. Not only has it received rave reviews, it is responsible for Volvos profit gain in 2011. I've owned several Volvos and have never received the amount of positive comments and compliments as I have with my current 2012 S60.

2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon ... in the extinction list already
2011 BMW 5-Series ... hyundai styling, overdone and underperforming
2011 Buick Regal ... trying too hard, not a competitor despite ads
2011 Chevrolet Volt ... sales dissapointment, catching on fire?!
2011 Chrysler 200 ... trying to copy the Audi image with city ads and LEDs ...lame bailout company
2011 Fiat 500 ... does Fiat mean 'cheap' in Italian?
2011 Hyundai Equus ... defines the new class of cheap fake luxury
2011 Infiniti M ... lost whatever charm it had, heading downhill
2011 Lexus CT200h ... no one wants one. period.
2011 MINI Countryman ... The charm of the mini is that it is "minisized"... another example of destroying image for sake of profits...again another example of BMW hypocracy
2011 Saab 9-5 ... a company that has to be saved from bankrupcy says all I need to know about the quality of its products.Being an ex-owner all I can say about Saabs are that the seats are the most comfortable and I liked the quirkiness of the location of the engine key/start in the console.
