Audi looks to set sales record
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. “ Audi is positioned to set a sales record both in the United States and worldwide if the first half of 2006 is any indication. In the U.S., both new vehicle and Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) sales are ahead of last year's pace.

Through June, Audi of America, Inc. sales increased 7.3 percent over the first half of 2005. New car sales figures for the first half of 2006 were released June 1 and totaled 40,455 units. Robust sales of the A3, A4, A6 and Audi Q7 model lines have helped contribute to the record sales pace.

AUDI AG recently announced that worldwide sales through June reached 463,500 units, a 9.8 percent increase over 2005's record setting performance.

Audi has made great progress during 2006, said Johan de Nysschen, Executive Vice President of Audi of America, Inc. U.S. consumer and media reaction to our new vehicles has been outstanding, and we are on course to set a sales record this year. Sales in the United States alone has accounted for nearly nine percent of AUDI's worldwide sales this year. With the Audi Q7 performance SUV now on sale – a vehicle specifically designed for the U.S. market“ I think we can make an even larger contribution to companys global growth.

CPO sales in the U.S. have also reached record levels. With 12,178 total sales, Audi CPO sales increased 5.0 percent over last year. The majority of Audi CPO sales have been to customers in the west and east coasts, yet the southern and central regions have shown impressive gains of 22.0 percent and 7.0 percent respectively over 2005 CPO sales. A4 models show the largest increase for 2006 with 5,682 CPO sales, a 6.7 percent increase over last year. A8 CPO sales have also been strong at 487 units, a 3.2 percent increase.

Audi just keeps raising its sales.

Gee if these numbers keep up Audi will sell 927,000 vehicles worldwide this year. Compared to BMW that is a terribly low number.

Congratulations, but Audi is still trailing the true luxury marks of BMW and MB which both sell over 1 million cars annually. BMW and MB are in the range of 1.2 - 1.4 million cars annually.

Audi has a LONG LONG way to go. Audi wants to sell 1.4 million cars annually by 2015. BMW wants to sell 1.6 million cars annually by 2008.

Audi is left in the dust yet again.

BMW here I come!

Ok buddy, Audi is behind by only 300k worldwide. With so many new Audis, Audi will catch up in no time.

Give Audi time, and they'll be a global player in the sense of BMW and MB. However, both Audi and BMW cannot touch Mercedes' in terms of image and prestige, something that MB has continually marketed. BMW focused on their racing and sports heritage and that's what sells them.

Audi should focus on their AWD heritage and how they implemented this at a time when AWD was still considered "iffy" in sedans. Stuff like that builds brand image over the years. Audi is doing a good job with their Quattro marketing.

Come to think of it, all three brands focus on their strongpoints in marketing - like they should.

MB could easily increase sales by just increasing public perception of rock solid reliability. A lot of sales have been lost over the last 10 years due to shoddy workmanship, nothing more. Lexus has been the beneficiary of that loss. If they just improved the E series reliability, that's instant money right there.

i'm currently enjoying the last few days that owning an audi is a semi-exclusive club.

in dallas, there are grossly more baby-BMWs (325s) than civics and accords.

quizz: you are misinformed if you think Benz has lost "alot of sales over the past 10 years"......as a matter of fact, Benz has been setting sales records month after month for the past ten years.

Audis are great, hope the best to them... I love them, Mercs, BMWs, all the same, because they are all in my family... Its gonna be hard for Audi to take over the two benchmarks, but if things continues, they will eventually catch up. But they have yet to build their name, globally, up to BMW and MB...

Actually it is the opposite. Globally the Audi name is on par, in the image happy US the Audi name is lower. Not to mention the fake uninteded acceleration.

Forget what you herd, Audi is well on its way to catching up with BMW, in some places in Europe Audi is more popular then BMW, I think they just need to consentrate on the U.S a little more and its a done deal.

20 percent less sales but Audi only has 1/3 to 1/2 the cars.
Audi is doing just fine
MB is selling cars in the US because they are giving them away

Most of the deals I am loosing to MB is because the cheaper. CLS 550s for the low $700s give me a break. I am finding people more and more that want Audis and have to settle for MB and BMW because they are giving away leases.

Oh please, LEASING is a very attractive prospect in the luxury market. The vast majority of consumers also lease their luxury cars. Big deal.

Does anyone know how much, if any, of the MB annual vehicle sales count is attributed to the MB commercial truck division? That is an area I don't believe BMW or Audi compete in. If you go to Europe, you will see all sorts of MB commercial vehicles everywhere. I just wonder if they include those sales in the numbers. I know they include the Smart cars as does BMW with the Mini. Maybe Audi should include VW's in their numbers.

Audi is certainly not a poor man's car like a Volkswagen might be. At the same time it doesn't have that same cachet of a BMW or Mercedes-Benz.

I'm also enjoying my last year and 3 months of owning an Audi.

After that it's time to join the exclusive club of BMW.

Audi is currently building their image, while MB and BMW are already there. This is why more luxury buyers in the US tend to favor MB and BMW as more prestigious. When Audi catches up to the prestige then we'll see what happens, because then there will be a more level playing field. Even though Audi maybe just as good as the other two, the image is definitely lacking.

Currently Audi is not as prestigious as BMW or MB. Eventually it is a known fact that Audi will get there not only based on sales but also on their products.

Unfortunately, I don't have time to sit around and wait for the image to catch up. I'm going to go over to camp BMW for the true ultimate driving machines.

BMW DESIGNS ARE THE BEST: STRIKING, FUTURISTIC, FASHIONABLE, YOUNG MINDED, SPORTY!

You know, all you people who are complaining about BMW's recent design is just jealous of them! BMW is the no.1 luxury car brand in the world and the 3, 5, 7 sold the most cars in its market segment in 2005 worldwide, beating Merc and Audi BY FAR!

So this simply says it, BMW's design is the way the people want it, togather with reliable first class innovation, quality and character, it can be nothing but the choice of sensible and educated buyers! The new 3 Series design is a work of art, look at the sharp front and muscular side, what car in the world can match that??? It is something potent, first and striking. It stands out from the normal cars like Merc and Audi!

That's why BMW's 3 is World car of the year and top 3 for World car design of the year! If you want to moan, why not try the ugly CLS, look what Sh1t it looks like: ugly headlights with an overcurved shoulderline (looks like it has been crashed from front and rear), ugly rear lights, too! Shame, what a piece of TRASH! The other one is the new S class - headlights so dull and fogged, can't they ever come up with something orginal and exciting?

I suppose because they appeal to the almost dead old population, who still think that Merc is a respected brand! I don't even want to get to the snoek fish degin of the Audi grille and the crying taillights of the A4, the sales show! By the way, why did Merc copy the iDrive, bootlid and interior design of the 7 if it was so ugly to some brainless bigmouths? Bangle is King and he should stay! BMW is not BMW without his works of art! Too bad for those who do not like it, you must then close your eyes, but the majority of thsi world loves it and that's what matters. We cannot help it that you lack taste!

MB commercial vehicle sales are not included with passenger car sales. I am 99% sure on that. Someone correct me if I am wrong though. ;)

You are completely wrong with this one again! The sales figures included are TOTAL for the company and now you can see at last that Merc is doing so badly. For certain reasons obviously that MB is not the choice any longer for some, but for you it is suddently the choice and that you are willing to take the risk!!!!! Good Luck!
