BMW is considering ways to market the new i sub-brand differently when its sales start in 2013. Tim Abbott, Managing Director of BMW U.K. told Car Dealer that it will use the internet more. of course this is the way the brand can make more money by selling the vehicle at a fixed cost versus a negotiated price.
I have had a feeling brands are going to go this route to minimize overproducing vehicles to help retain residual values.

I like this idea, BMW will basically have global warehouses and each order will be sourced from these storage centers. What they lose however is the benefit of having a dealership lot continually flashing cars to people as they head to work every day.
