Rumor Mill: Toyota Considering A Supra Revival
Two more sports cars could be developed by Toyota, including a spiritual successor to its cult car, the Supra. The man responsible for the development of the company's new 86 sports car, chief engineer Tetsuya Tada, says there is room for a three-tier sports car line-up in the Toyota range, with one car sitting below the 86 and one above it.

This rumor has been around for years.

When Toyo is serious about taking back market share then it will happen, until then we just have to drool over the unattainable LF-A....

With this 86 platform it's easy to come up with some 400 hp sports car, so it can happen soon. I'm more interested which one Supra are chasing after.... GT-R or Z? I bet it's the latter as Toyota won't make the same marketing mistake as Nissan.

If they did make it, would they have the balls to Badge it as a Scion in the North American market place? Or is the decreased fuel economy/reliability that is associated with sportier models going to designate this vehicle as a Scion? (just like the FR-S)

Rumor Mill: Toyota Considering A Supra Revival

"...If they were to be made, the three new sports cars would return Toyota to its former two-door GLORY DAYS, when sports cars were as important to its line-up"

BUT, BUT, BUT, TOYota has more important things to worry about right now!!

(EXTRA sarcasm added)

Yes!! Toyota will release the beast. They need to do something. As is stands now the sportiest car that you can find in a Toyota dealership is the Matrix. HAHAHA!. What a joke of a car company. LOL!!

What? The matrix is still around? I thought it died off when its GM sibling died off.

Yeah... It's still around. Toyota's sportiest car (The Matrix) puts Hyundai, Nissan, and Honda's sportiest cars all to shame.

Toyota will put all other makes to shame just like it does now with the Yaris.

And the Jeeps are more capable than the Landcruiser.

But nothing can match the Matrix when it comes to sportiness. Toyota's sportiest car (the Matrix)is a true leader in performance. The Nissan 370z and Genesis coupe are mere specks in the Matrix's rear-view mirror.

Yeah... I see LF-A's in Toyota dealerships all the time. And The LF-A's that I see in the dealerships(parked next to Camry's) have "Toyota" badges on them. Those LF-A's that I saw were there for folks who were cross shopping Nissan 370's and Hyundia Geneis coupes. On the hopes that they would buy the Toyota LF-A instead.

Lexsucks my friend, read huu76back's comment and your reply again. He's talking about a concept while you're talking about reality. I WISH you'd make a comment sophisticated enough to pass over my head once in a while.

"This still isn’t the kind of car that raises pulse rates. But it is competent in everything, just right for a driver who doesn’t want to be involved any more than is absolutely necessary."

The Camry is not sporty, even in SE trim.

And as good as that is, the VW Passat with the VR6 engine is as fast and is better handling and better driving than the Camry according to recent comparo's. I still would wonder about the VW's reliability compared to the Toyota, but the 3 years of free maintenance from VW helps. If only the TDI passat were more powerful. If it could get 0-60 in 7 seconds and get 40 mpg I'd get it in a heartbeat. I am sure you can get a power programmer for it though.
