I like that render, very attractive. Too bad this trio of cars can only achieve 30mpg hwy (insert heavier and much more powerful competition's 30mpg scores here), lol.

Something more then 30mpg! RWD cars with +120hp, +130lbft, and +1000lbs weight get that fuel economy.

Camaro and Mustang get 30 and 31mpg hwy respectively.

badgewhore, is it wrong to expect a car that has that much less power and weight to be more fuel efficient? Even 32mpg hwy would have been better. But as it lies, if you want to save money buy the cheaper, more powerful and fuel efficient mustang! lol

You are correct Joe, the Mustang is cheaper....in every way.

lol, badgewhore, it seems that fuel economy comment seems to have really gotten to you! Did you really need to do 5 posts? lol

I find it hilarious that you compare it to the F430 and M3. Lets look into this a bit shall we?

F430 has 2.42 more power, and similar weight, yet the scion can only get 1.88 times better fuel economy.

Now the M3 has over twice the power, almost twice the weight and the scion has gets only 1.5 times better fuel economy.

I like how you compare this car to older Boxsters, did you know the current one gets 29mpg on your "new" computation method? It has a similar weight and 55 more hp then your scion.

What's more, from reading about this car, I thought they were limiting its performance because of fuel economy issues!

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2010/04/toyota-backs-off-ft-86-price-point-youth-appeal-goals/

Toyota’s much-discussed FT-86 sports coupe is apparently losing some of the focus that made it an instant (theoretical) hit with enthusiasts...[The FT-86's] R&D team is now more focused on minimizing fuel consumption and producing the cleanest engine possible

So is this true? They neutered the car in order to get similar fuel economy to its competitors that weigh half a ton more, and have over a hundred hp/lbft more engine performance?
