Who Failed To Make The Cut? Car And Driver Selects Their Top 10 For 2011
Every year Car and Driver Magazine names their top 10 cars.  This year it might not be a revelation as to who is on the list. (we all know the usual suspects), the biggest surprises might be who isn't on the list.

Particularly on note might be the absence of our favorite Korean brand Hyundai and the perennial favorites of both Toyota and Infiniti. In this latest round of favorites they were notably absent, replaced with an array of both domestic and German picks.

Are Lexus, MB and Infiniti losing favor with the printed media or just the odd men out this year?  Just take a look and let us know.

Here are Car and Driver's Top 10 for 2011

    Audi A6/A7
    BMW 3 Series / M3
    Cadillac CTS-V
    Ford Focus
Ford Mustang GT / Boss 302
    Honda Accord
    Honda Fit
    Mazda MX-5
    Porsche Boxster / Cayman
    Volkswagen Golf / GTI

What Toyota deserves to be on the 10 best list? What Hyundai deserves to be on the list? And what Infiniti deserves to be on the 10 best list?

Answer: None of them. Car and Driver got it right. 95% of the cars that are coming out of Japan are lifeless, boring, tepid, harmless, Milf cars. But japan's engineering is #1. Not sure what makes it that way but facts are facts. And Korea? I don't want to lower Korea by comparing thier cars to Toyotas.

- Yes I have. I recommended a G35 for a buddy back in 03. Now let’s get back to your reply. It's obvious that your feelings get hurt when someone says something negative about a Japanese car. LOL!! Which prompted you to say that I cannot afford a Lexus? Why make it personal? What do my finances have to do with this car discussion? Stop the personal attack dude it’s just a car. Insecure much?

And yes, I can afford A Lexus. But I wouldn’t be caught dead in one of those made-for-America, tepid, snooze mobiles.

the G is a great car. for the money. but if you can afford the $10,000 extra for a comparable 3-series, it's simply a better car.

No surprise. I have two Accords, and have had Hondas for almost 30 years. The competition may be getting closer, but they ain't there yet.

Driving manners, economy, reliability, quality, looks, performance, resale, prestige(try to find a cheap used one), etc. The Accord doesn't excel in very many areas, but still, all-around it covers most of the bases pretty well.

I sell Honda and even I can't agree that the Accord is better than the new Camry. It's a nice car, but the Camry is better in every measurable way. This list is BOGUS.

Okay, true. New Camry is getting favorable reviews and Toyota has simplified pricing. I haven't driven new gen.

Media however may be wrong , why? the buyers have other reasons as you see with Audi and others that may no be favorites for the Media but they are for the buyers..

The Audi A6/A7 made the list instead of the BMW 5 series. The tide is changing indeed.
The A7 was also named "automobile of the year" by Automobile magazine.

Why is the non-GTI Golf on the list when C/D pronounced it inferior to the Mazda3 in a comparo?

Either the Mazda should make the list and/or the Golf shouldn't. Otherwise Car and Driver is contradicting itself.

Why do you online weirdos always use the word 'troll' to trash someone? Anyone who uses that term is a total loser! Which is far worse than any troll I know.

There is absolutely no reason the Accord should continue on this list. It is outclassed by so many in its segment. That's why the C&D top 10 is a joke every year-the almost automatic byes that previous winners get.
Fiesta>Fit
Camry, Optima, Sonata, Passat(?)>Accord

I think the Passat should be there instead of the accord. Especially with the fact that the Passat out performs it and has a diesel option that gets well over 700 miles on a single tank without being slow like most hybrids. 0-60 in 8 seconds is quicker than the competitions four cylinders and gets much better mileage, not to mention the amount of torque you get.

Angryinch, I agree. The sonata turbo is just like the Buick regal GS, way too slow for what its numbers suggest. How can almost 300hp take almost 8 seconds to get to 60 mph. the Kia Sportage with that same engine takes 9 seconds! an older 190hp 4.0 inline 6 Jeep Cherokee Xj was faster than that, and it is larger and has almost 100hp less. The looks and interior are impressive for its segment but the performance is seriously lacking.
