Honda Crosstour Sales Disappoint CEO
Sales of the Honda Crosstour have been quite disappointing, according to American Honda president and CEO Tetsuo Iwamura. When addressing journalists at an event related to the Tokyo Auto Show, Iwamura said that it’s a bad idea for the car to be initially billed as the Accord Crosstour since

What did they expect? Just look at the car and the price. If that is the competitor for Venza then they failed miserably.

I remember when it was first introduced and autospies ran their usual piece on it. I responded with a comment about how dreadfully UGLY that vehicle was AND how they must have taken some cues from the "bird beak" designers. Several bloggers thought it "looked great". I'm glad I didn't buy one of these UGLY beast. You can place this pile of (ugly) junk in the same category as the Pontiac Asstec.

Give me a car/SUV that when I walk away from it, I want to look back over my shoulder at the beautiful lines. This was a HUGE mistake from the beginning. If Honda doesn't get some NEW designers, they will sink in their terrible designs. (Just look at the CHEAP plastic interior now in the Civic). Honda is better then this.

They should learn from this, that no everything should make it to production!!
That thing is a total abomination!!!!

I mean, "not everything"

Could it possibly be because it's ugly?

Wow, We didn't see that coming....... How could anyone with a sane mind even approve this hideous thing for production and sale? I mean how does something almost as ugly as an Aztec actually get the green light?

Wait until the fools who DID buy one try to sell it. Talk about taking a depreciation hit on the value. I wouldn't put that UGLY piece of metal in my garage if someone gave one to me.

I don't understand all this negativity toward Honda. They are bullet proof and can do no wrong.

Completely agree with you!! "The cars are bulletproof and can do no wrong"
In this case, it was the one who designed this thing, and the one who signed it for production who did very, very wrong!!!!!!

It has nothing to do with Honda's bullet proof reputation as you state. Let's not mix "quality and reliability" with craftmanship, sleek and sexy lines on a vehicle. The Crosstour exudes none of these desired attributes. If I wanted "ordinary" and ugly looking, then I would have bought a Pontiac Aztec; which is what the Crosstour competes very closely with in terms of "looks".

I agree, they are bulletproof, the idiot that approved this design for production is the one at fault. the styling department at Honda needs to be fired and the ones that designed the Honda's of the 80's and 90's need to be re-hired. The person that designed the 95 Acura Legend needs to be put back into office to design for Acura. The Legend was one of the best looking cars ever.

Wow, what overwhelming consensus on how ugly the Crosstour is and yet Honda has done nothing to improve it's appeal. FAIL. HONDA, we have been saying for years you need to WAKE UP, SO WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE! We want good cars that also look good, kthanks.

It may have been a success if they made it a wagon instead of trying to make it look like a fast back, I will take practicality over looks any day, Honda should hire some other designer, And I own and like Honda.

take an Accord, wide angle lense (or fisheye) its rear, throw in a high suspension, keep same ol' boring wheel/tire setup and you have a Cross Ugly Honda. The thing is hideous. I don't know how this is a surprise to anyone.
