Honda Admits To "Sleepless Nights" Over VW's Diesel Technology - Planning Lightweight Alternative

Honda Admits To
Honda thinks it finally has a diesel that will make its European rivals a little nervous. Using comparable Volkswagen Group powertrains as a benchmark, Honda says it has created a new 120-hp 1.6-liter diesel that offers 300 newton meters of torque while emitting less than 100 grams per kilometer of CO2.

At 180kg, Honda says the new diesel is the lightest in its class, which contributes to its low CO2 numbers. The engine's final CO2 scores will be released closer to launch as it still needs to undergo testing in Europe.

The VW diesel serves more than the automotive line, and is built for extreme durability. No doubt it could weigh less but might cost more in the long run.

Yes agent....VW makes extremely durable engines...as long as you're willing to pay thousands in repairs over the lifetime. NOTHING costs more to run than VW's(at least in there class).

The 2.2 sounds like it has way more torque than the civic could handle with 2 wheel drive, 300nm torque, I would never complain about it, what is the weight difference to the 1.8L gas motor? the 2.2 sounds like it could use more HP, and lets see how the light weight diesel stands up to the test of time.
