Audi Set To Be Number Two Premium Automaker In Global Sales For 2011
Audi should for the first time pass the Mercedes-Benz brand in full-year global sales and finish 2011 as the world's No. 2-selling premium brand behind BMW.

With one month to go, Audi leads Mercedes by more than 56,500 total vehicle sales, despite the Daimler subsidiary outselling Audi last month and setting a record for vehicles sold in the January-November period.

I don't know how Audi will do it? My wife and I walked into a nearby (Glenview, IL) dealer at 3:00pm on a weekday. Interrested in an A4 we checked out the 2 floor models for about 15 minutes. No salespeople approached us... so, we walked out and continued on to a Hyundai dealer down the road,,,, and bought a Genesis.

I don't know how MB will do it? My wife and I walked into a nearby (Boston, MA) dealer at 3:00pm on a weekday. Interrested in an C-Class we checked out the 2 floor models for about 15 minutes. No salespeople approached us... so, we walked out and continued on to a Kia dealer down the road,,,, and bought a Forte.

(not very believable is it)

The new 2.0 A6 selling at a 10% discount in the us...which is a fairly large incentive.

if you were serious you would have approached a sales rep. Audi and Hyundai don't compete even if it is a Genesis.

"Struggling" is not quite accurate. Audi has always had a smaller market share in the US compared to MB and BMW. But if you look at the trends, Audi's market share has been steadily growing especially in the past few years.

something to think about ... here are some figures that represent percentage of Audi sales compared to MB sales.

In 2006, Audi sold 37.5% as much as MB did
2007: Audi sold 36.9% of MB
2008: Audi sold 39% of MB
2009: Audi sold 43.5% of MB
2010: Audi sold 47% of MB
2011: Audi is selling 47.8% of MB

Audi has gained on all its major competitors in the US (BMW 15%, MB 10%) since 2006 including Tier II Acura (gain 50%), Infiniti (44%) and Lexus (33%)

I also still own a MB product with under 10K miles on it. I suggest you drive a 2012 Genesis and you might see what led me to buy one. It goes way beyond price range, size, specs and the Genesis' 333hp vs the Audi 210hp.

You can also buy a 3-pice suit at Mens Warehouse for less than the price of shirt from Zegna. Apples and oranges!
